Its just outrageous what they are doing.. since when can you sub people in Cricket. The whole point of the team is to get the people who you think will be able to perform best in all chores, not just get speciallists for each detail.
Vaughan should really grow some balls, and im teling you this is one of the main factors that England are winning, that and the umpires.

Just when you thought it had all died back, here they come again.

They're not doing anything wrong (We had a 1sts game last year where our club president fielded at first slip for the good part of a day because our twelfth man was hungover :p ). However, it does make a mockery of the rules when you've got bowlers putting in best actor gimp hobbles so they can get off for a quick rub down.

The funny thing about Ponting having a bitch is that the sub fielder was on there legitimately as Jones was actually off injured

Bollocks. Must be the same injury he had in the other week when he managed to come back and take 6.

So you don't deny that deliberately manipulating the rules goes against the spirit of the game? Imagine the reaction by the tabloids and bandwagoners like you and eddie if we had done the same thing with McGrath and Symonds before the poms had started? Imagine the Peter Roebuck articles and Boycotts whinging.

1) I do deny that having players going off the pitch for a short amount of time, as permitted by the rules, is against the spirit of the game. In the same manner that Aussies believe that an onslaught of sledging is within the spirit of the game.

2) I do deny that releasing your "12th man" to the counties to get some game time, and replacing with a gun fielder, is against the spirit of the game. If the rules were changed to force the 12th man be used, then the fielder would just be named 12th man, so same situation. Even a touring party can name a 12th man who does not come on and field - I'm not sure HOdge has been official 12th man as yet, but has performed duties such as being a sub fielder.

3) I do deny that having a 13th man, when there is a player injured quite seriously, and the 12th man is on the pitch permanantly already, is against the spirit of the game.

"Bandwagoners" like me? ... hmm, but anyway I don't even think I'd notice, just like I didn;t notice when Hodgey was on as your sub fielder.

We have more important things, like your great leggie spending 12 months out of the game for taking an illegal masking-agent drug, to whinge about.

The irony of that is the most reputated man in cricket history to have been a heavy sledger was none other than Dr. W.G Grace

Pommys whinging about sledging not being within the spirit of the game? Ah the irony :D

Yep, and he did not even take any performance enhancing drugs.

all the countries sledge, people only notice the aussies cause they win a lot.if you cant put up with sledging well then dont play/watch cricket or any sport.

He came back, what was it? Nearly 2 weeks between tests?

Anyway, if you can come up with some revolutionary invention that will allow a player to be out on the field, unable to move and be in the hospital having X-Rays at the same time to work out the extent of the damage, then please let us know.

Otherwise we couldnt give a stuff what you or Ponting say or think

He may have been ********ed off about the tactic, he had plenty of time to whinge about it, but when he gets run out by a legitimate replacement fielder then it just shows sour grapes

Did you see the English players chucking a tantrum when Hodgey caught them in the 3rd test?

Nope, I'm just pointing out you can't choose to play within the spirit of the game in some areas and not others. Subbing within the laws of the game, I would suggest, is within the laws and spirit of the game. When was HOdgey named 12th man, can you remind me? :)

Who knows, he took a masking agent. That is why he was banned.

And all countries sub within the laws of the game, with people not named as 12th man... I'm just after some consistency from you whingers.

THere is a difference between banter and abusive sledging. There is no doubt aussies stretched it and the rest followed suit, and can;t hack it in return.

But but, erm, squirm, ummm, whinge whinge.

Another one - are Hayden and other aussie batsmen's delaying tactics when they force the bowler to wait to bowl, and then reduce over rates to criminally low, within the spirit of the game?

hodge was on for clarke who was injured, not cause Ponting was off the field getting tips from his coach or getting a rub down with a happy ending from a team mate :)

seems hussain isnt the only one mentally scared from aussie thrashings.

and stay on the subject.

But he wasn't 12th man...

In fact he was the best fielder available...

How is pointing out that AUssies bend rules in their favour, against the spirit of the game, not on topic??

the point is that the bowlers should not be going off the ground just to get rest breaks ..it's not what the sub rule was designed for . the Poms are trying it on once again .

There would be very very very few bowlers in world cricket who are not carrying some sort of niggle that needs a spot of ice, a tightened bandage, a spray, and a rub after a spell of bowling.

Or would you rather more great bowlers were seriously injured and missed more test matches?

Far from cheating, I think this is improving the game for everyone.

The funniest thing about Pontings whingeing is the English will use this to play with Pontings mind and probably make a sub as soon as Ponting comes out to bat

thats so funny and clever, wish i thought of that

may as well just let them take drugs.

players prove themselves playing under injures, nothing should come easy in test cricket.

There's certainly none in England!

The fact is, Pratt's runout was a bloody good one. Odds are that one of your fielders wouldn't have thrown the stumps down from that angle.

Hodge's catch would've been gobbled up by anyone, it wasn't a spectacular one-hand diving catch.

So the English can only bring on average players to give you Aussies more of a chance?

My mate works at Edgbaston and he deliberately placed the ball just behind Mcgrath when he was playing a game of pre-game rugby .Timed it perfectly so he slip and bust his ankle .
And another mate of mine sneaked into the dressing room and sabotaged the bats of the entire aussie team to make them bat badly in the last 3 tests...
.......and and I paid off the umpires to get decisions go our way.....

errrr and another mate stole the contents of Shane Warnes Drug cabinet so he wouldnt spin the ball as much....
errrrrrrr The groundsman prepared pitches that didnt suit the aussies.....ooohhhhhhhh hhmmmmm and I slipped some deep heat into gillespies trousers so he wouldnt bowl as well....

do yer see??? do yer see??? its all a conspiracy!!!!!!!
