Probably doing a heavy training load to get ready for the finals and don't care about dropping games, such was their lead on the rest of the comp.
Could be some merit in this. I'm sure they wouldn't want to drop games, but knew their was a risk.
They may have increased training loads in those weeks with 8-day turnarounds leading into rd 17 and rd 19. Could have some high rolling 21 and 28-day training loads under their belt right now, and a 6-day turnaround to Port with travel would also add to that fatigue with higher 7-day loads. Another 6-day turnaround to Collingwood so that fatigue isn't going to dissipate any time soon.
They'll have a 7-day and an 8-day week to round out the season, plus the pre-finals bye so easier to manage now. But geez, they need to win a game for their confidence as this could be wrecked.
