maybe in other universes, but not in this one. If there was, we woulda found out by now seeing as we know quite a bit about the other planets etc.
Um we live in a solar system which is one of many in a galaxy. These galaxies then make up the universe and there is a hell of a lot of them. We don't know much about other planets except those that belong to our star. Others we wouldn't have a fricking clue about.

Another not related to what Macca said. What do you classify a being? Another intelligent lifeform or just another lifeform, bacteria for example? You also have to consider that because our universe has existed for so long, these other lifeforms may have allready died out, like those that were found on Mars or whatever.

Well .. I have no doubt whatsoever, that there are other 'life forms'. And others shouldn't either.

When I said beings I mean't like .. human 'beings'... intelligent lifeforms like ourselves (not like bacteria and stuff).

well, what ever way you look at it,its amazing......if there is life elsewhere in the universe then it will be one of,if not the greatest discovery in the history of man
on the other hand,if there isn't any life besides our then wow....it makes you wonder why we were made.....were we an accident?or an experiment that went wrong:p

personally i think there is life elsewhere, why would we be the only form of life in such a large galaxy

Who knows?

The planets discovered recently are more akin to Jupiter. They consist of a huge mass of gas (Jupiter and Saturn are known as the gas giants) and it would seem unlikely that life (as we know it) could exist on these planets.

Earth is also unique in that Jupiter helps protect it from other inter-planetary objects. Earth is rarely hit by meteors and asteroids, and is even more rarely hit by comets. Jupiter's strong gravitational field pulls these objects closer to its orbit. This has allowed Earth to remain relatively stable and given life the chance to evolve over time.

Although these conditions haven't been found to exist yet, they still may exist in a solar system yet to be discovered.

On the intelligent life on other planets theory, whilst I am neither here nor there, there are some fascinating rock formations on Mars (pyramids, a face carved out of rock) that look really like the work of intelligent hands.
I know the rock formations you are talking about. They were first brought to NASA's attention by a work called the McDaniel Report. It ascertained that these formations could be the work of intelligent hands. However most scientists have debunked this theory. At certain angles the 'face' does indeed look like a human face. At other angles however it looks like an everyday mountain. Certain shadows have created an illusion that there is a face. It is similar to the devil's face people saw in the smoke from the World Trade Centre.
