Just got a phone call from the Essendon football club - they got my details from tickemaster (which I didn't know ticketmaster could give that information out given I didn't even tick the box to receive special offers)!

Anyway they asked me if I was interested in buying a membership because I bought tickets to round one Bulldogs v Essendon.

So I proceeded to tell the girl that -

1. I bought the tickets for my husband who is a Bulldogs member and

2. I was seriously not interested as I am a hawk member!

What the? Are they that desperate for members and money out at Essendon?

There are potential Essendon supporters that bought tickets who they are trying to convert to Members. I don't see a problem.

Call the police and report the obscene phone call.

nice :D

But seriously, ring ticketmaster & ask them where it is that says they can hand out your details. There is usually an 'opt in" option, or for the shifty ones, a long winded 'tick to opt out' option.

Unless you don't care that much. Certainly seems like a privacy issue though.

When you buy tickets online there is a box down at the bottom which says you don't want them to use your details or some such thing, from what I can tell it is not ticked by default so anyone who just hurries through the process has basically agreed to have their details used for other things like the Essendon membership drive.

It is poor form, even if it is legal.

Certainly on the colder side of a warm call.

That reminds me, one of my friends must've signed me up to the EFC email updates  Straight in the junk folder but I did get a chuckle when I got the first one.

Yeah I know about the box with the privacy stuff and always untick it because my account is linked to my work email and I dont want to receive all that crap in my inbox.

Seems that the bombers are fairly desperate if they are warm calling based on people attending a footy game where two teams are playing!

Robbo will have them calling up for cat and dog memberships to bump their numbers.

Surely with Lord James at the helm and the start that they have had, please someone tell me that they are infront of us? :D

Hmmm are they? Well lets see ->

Big payout for knights.......

What must have been a massive *undisclosed* sum to get Hirdy to sign
and close to $1 Million a year for Bomber to 'mentor'. Apparaently they are around $6 Million in the red.

Are they really that desperate?

Yep. I would say that they are.

Talking of colours don't they look pathetic in those red shorts....they just look awful.
They aren't new though.

During my 'career' I wore the colors of the Tigers, Magpies (white V on black fortunately), Saints and Bombres.

It was as a junior I had to wear that vile combination but we had the red guernseys with a black sash (some might say a suitable clash strip) and in the early '80's, red VFL approved Essendon shorts where in plentiful supply.

Often on special.
