Surely 2010 for you guys will be all about getting game time into your kids. I would expect a bottom 4 finish if I were you, but it will be for the greater good if you know what I mean.

This is something that should have happened at Richmond and didnt and look at us now. Dont make the same mistakes we did.

We should not expect bottom four now. Terrible way to enter a season. 7-8 wins is par.

Only terrible if your expectations could influence the teams on field performance. I am all for optimism but I am also a realist.

I don't think there will be too much positional experimentation next year. DB will be looking to have a fairly settled side and getting wins.

Yeah, I think the lineup will be a lot more stable in 2010- as long as we have a reasonable run with injuries anyway.

North finished with 7 and half wins this year and finished 13th, so 7-8 wins may see us in the bottom 4, the very last spot in the bottom 4 mind you. This year will be determined by the number of wins not ladder position.

I would expect to win 7-8 games also.

I get laughed at for suggesting such things around my group of friends. I'm not sure if I'm right.....or I just need new friends.

Friends can be very ignorant about this sort of thing, or maybe they just don't want to bring themselves to admit that we actually are on the improve. The same thing happens to me.

Seems like some, at least, are still stuck in the 2008 mode of thinking when it comes to us - but that'll change next year, of course...

I think realistically we can anywhere between 6-10 games, but i thinkg 7-8 wins is where we are at. Given that north finished 13th with 7 and half wins in 2009 and port finished 13th in 2008 with 7 wins and even the dogs in 2007 finished 13th with 9 wins.

Just to compare a couple of imprtant stats from 2008 to 2009;

Quarters won in 2008 - 23
Quarters won in 2009 - 32

Points against 2008 - 2602
Points against 2009 - 2285

So shows were we definitely more competitive for longer peroids this year than last year. Our defensive pressure in the midfield improve and our backlien improved as group collectiely.

Given that next year there is no real incentive to tank due GC17 inception, it will be one of the more competitive seasons in recent years. I think our improvement should be determined by the number of wins we achieve not our ladder position. Say if we repeat the doggies of 07, win 9 games but finish 13th (still in the bottom four) i would satisfied with that season.

Very informative post there, Is it possible to tell us our points scored by us for these years?

I believe that in the 2nd half of last season, the players actually started to understand the game plan & our teams score was more than competitive together with the ability of the midfielders to actually start to use the corridor before delivering into the forward line....

With natural improvement from the players (especially the midfilders), the forwards will be able to make position and/or lead with greater certainty that the ball will actually be delivered to where they are anticipating....

With this change it will mean greater confidence will flow through everyone on the field & I now believe we can finish with approx 10-11 wins (subject to our fitness dept lifting their game).....

The fight for a position in the team will also be fantastic for the football dept to take advantage of, it is going to be an enjoyable season.......:)

Good call mate... thank Christ Babjicuk has been moved to a less important role too. Presumably the physical preparation of our players will be substantially improved as a result.

I'm tipping you to be spectacularly wrong in this regard, WattsGun.
