Opinion Are We Flat-Track Bullies?

Some of the players and coaches have come out and said they are pretty much flat track bullies so its good to know they think that.

Yeah in Nics press conference today, he basically said that. Said that Simmo had made a point of them needing to knock off a good team, so at least they know it, I expect them to come out hard against the pies, If they dish up that shit they did last year against collingwood, I will go f**king nuts, I'm getting pretty tired of their shit in general and it's getting harder and harder to watch the games every week, let alone treck up mt 3 tier stand every second week to watch us kick 7.25 and lose.

It's all well and good acknowledging that we haven't beaten a quality opponent but until we actually do so, it's all fairly empty rhetoric tbh.

Essendon 2013 should count because when we beat them in the 2nd half of last year (comfortably) they were well in the 8 , and hadn't been suspended from the finals yet either

I didn't see how anyone could think otherwise.

People were saying its "its just if our midfield breaks even with the other teams"...that is flat trackers. The moment the intensity is lifted or midfield cant handle it.

But the difficult thing is changing that mentality. It means as a group that when these guys see an easy target they play out of their skin but a far more reserved when the opponent has a chance of hurting them the other way. Its a sign that the players aren't preparing for each game the same way.

I still think its not exactly a good example. We beat a team that season was completely derailed because of an ongoing investigation into them.

Respectfully and wholehearted disagree. Essendon were mentally and physically cooked at that point in the season. We beat a shadow of a team that day.

They knew what was coming and played without heart.

Beating up on cripples - the west coast turkeys

Flat track bullies - **** i hope we show a bit of ticker this weekend

Arya stark has more balls than half our team - she would wear gaffs for ear rings

That doesn't promote the idea that we are nothing more than flat track bullies so therefore it doesn't count
Neither does beating Freo or Sydney during the preseason for the same reason ;)

i think we're more like Matt Black Woollies, or Fat Slack Hoodies!? stick that in yer pipe and smoke it!? (; (theyre just meaningless words to me, for a stage we're going through)

I don't think last night pushes the "flat track bully" theory at all. pushed one of the better teams in the competition to 2 goals on their soil in what was one of the best games of footy the competition has seen this year.

If FTB's means we can only beat the bottom 6 teams then the answer is simple. That would make us roughly the 11th best team if we could beat Richmond which I suspect we could. The 8 teams above us now are all definitely better than us and people will have to adjust to that reality in here.

Gary Lyon has always been quick jump all over West Australian teams, this is nothing new. He's just another washed up ex-footballer with an overly inflated view of his own intellect. He should stick to writing Specky Magee books.

In the sense of being a nailbiter, sure, but Collingwood was down 2 players and they just weren't switched on for large parts of the game. Our form was reasonable, but we still capitulated. I'm not damning us, but we have work to do to truly get rid of the "flat track bully" status. If we can win next week that will help a lot I think.
