Most of us think another top 2 finish is on the cards. A lot can happen during a season of footy. I'd hate for expectations to become an onerous burden. It seems we are best when we play to the Lyon style of gameplan. I think realistically a top 4 finish will be good. Anything after that is a bit of a lottery given the injuries to each side.

I would hope we celebrate each win rather than expecting it to be par for the course. Knocking off collingwood is still a mammoth achievement and if we don't it's no cause to slit our wrists.

I don't expect a top 2 finish, but I do expect us to beat Collingwood. Knocking them off at Etihad should be expected, in their last proper game Port beat them in a final at the MCG

All the media and the bookies have us as 2nd favourite for the premiership and odds on to make the top 4. So I don't think we are getting ahead of ourselves.

Doubt is for pussies. Pre-season is the perfect time for rampant optimism. I think we'll score the premiership and go on to win the superbowl.
Personally, I am expecting the flag, after an undefeated season, with Fyfe to win the Brownlow, Pav to win the Coleman, Zac to win the Norm Smith and Morabito to father triplets to a supermodel.

After that, we will collectively win the internets as a novelty prize.

The media seemed to be getting carried away. If supporters want to do then good on them. We should enjoy the next few seasons whatever they bring. It certainly looks to be significant period of the clubs history under Ross Lyon regardless of what happens.

I'm not walking around banging cymbals together singing "we are so great, the premiership is ours", but if I'm discussing the season with somebody or they ask, them yes, I'm saying that we should finish top four and I honestly think we will win the flag.
I don't think it's getting ahead of myself. Someone has to win and I think it will be us.

After two pre-season wins the Eagles fans certainly are.

If you don't believe me then have a read of their forum on Big Footy.

There is a significant unknown for Fremantle. This is the shortest off season we have ever had.
That is my only concern, how that affects our start to the season.
With Ross having travelled this road before i am sure he will have us right.
We know we have the players, so expecting a top 2 position is very reasonable.

I'm confident that the team will be right up there but I'm surprised at how many people just seem to think it's just going to happen, it's a mountain to climb and last year was a massive missed opportunity.

Yeah, i'm tentatively confident we'll have a decent year. But i'm under no illusions that not everything will go our way.. But then that's part of the journey isn't it? Enjoy the ride OP.

The previous 18 years of full preseasons didn't seem particularly helpful with our starts.

Our whole gameplan and style is built around effort.
As pre season games showed if our effort/attitude isn't right we will struggle.

Should easily make top 6.
How much higher depends on how focused the players remain throughout the season against every opposition.

My guess is 3rd

Yeah top two can potentially mean qualifying and preliminary finals both being home games.
IMO top two will mean we play in another GF.
Not necessarily. Adelaide finished top two in 2012, just as Geelong did in 2013.

If Fremantle finish third and draw a Victorian club, then (hopefully) that game will be at the MCG giving much needed experience in big games at the grand final venue.

That is true however I reckon we would win two home finals and make another GF.
I take your point regarding another opportunity to play a big one on the G but personally I want to improve the odds of getting to the grand final.

Only 2 games at the 'G during the season has me worried, indeed.

Hmm its a difficult question - im with you when you say beating collingwood at etihad will be a huge win...dont underestimate the pies this year.

Id be very happy if we were right in the mix for top4/ top 2, especially given our draw against more of the better sides.
