It is not often the AFL tribunal goes against a finding. I am glad the Dockers supported Duman and that the penalty was reduced. I believe the AFL has the worst system for this in sport in the world. Yes, in the WORLD. We have one appointed judge. His opinion - that is it. He lets some off, he over penalises others. Even Surfing (WSL) increased their judges from 3 to 5 (drop the outliers). Do not get me started on the Brownlow - the "FAIREST AND BEST" - because with Michael Christian - you can be fair, and you can be best, and you can be suspended and then ineligible to win the Brownlow. "Unintentional and high..." impact? WTF is this - This is not the intention of the post though.
In 2019, how one person can be given the responsibility for the judge and jury role - it is laughable. It is out of Star Wars. Complete control. I believe Michael Christian is human and he thinks like this : "You cannot suspend a player because they are high profile and very popular in Melbourne, a fine will do it, alas we want to illustrate the rules we made, we just have to time it right." Round 5... we can make an example now, unknown player doing the same action against a well known player, outcome is the same but we can (the AFL) take a stance now - as we said we would (pre Martin).
How is it even possible that we have this as a judicial system? I do not understand the bureaucracy and mediocrity and intelligence from this game I loved so much. I am thinking it is all money. The fans lose. Why, because even the Duman's are great and awesome and have worked their life to get to this level, and they need to be treated as the Martin's, the Ablett's, the Dangerfield's, I would say the Fyfe's - but he got suspended for nothing because... he plays for Freo. Interested in responses. Sorry to play the cold Freo card but the truth hurts, maybe we have a chip on our shoulder, maybe we just want a normal competition - like most of you. I believe every AFL player deserves the same treatment, and I believe the Brownlow needs to be changed to a 3 week suspension ineligibility system. As stupid as it sounds, can you imagine Duman losing a Brownlow to that incident. What about the ducking players into hips occurrence. That is me out, I am interested in discussion - not after likes or that shite, just comments please.
