80% of our staff have been stood down
80% of our staff have been stood down
AFL and AFLPA negotiating a 50% paycut to players.
Pykie, I pay my membership monthly and I assume there are others that do too.Yeah, that's not how it works, especially seeing as they don't in reality have 37,000 memberships, as a % of those will be requesting refunds.
We have overdrafts & loans still accruing interest. Even if staff are stood down, they are still owed annual leave, which is a liability the club will still have to pay without revenue.
No doubt we have annual fee's for tech like GPS, data software etc.
We've probably outlayed a major % of operational expenditure on medical supplies, gear etc for preparation for the season.
Skeleton staff doesn't mean costs turn to $0.
Most of our revenue is from TV and AFL distribution, not membership.
Pretty disgusting some people on here cheering on the demise of St Kilda, or any other club for that matter.
Don’t complain when some flog in the media suggests it is us if that is how you are going to behave.
Campaigners.
To me it seems they’re preparing for a one round season

Sometimes he is reasonable.
Probably depends on how much of what he has smoked.
Who the fu** are you?

Our club happens to be dependent on the AFL which is involved in the entertainment industry. Right now they are not allowed to entertain anybody.
An "interesting" set of accounts. Current Assets at $2,460,886 versus Current Liabilities at $12,913,149 is hardly inspiring. Net current Assets of - $10,452.263. In fact scary. The two major liabilities are Trade Creditors at $6,557,961 and Long term borrowings, $6,511,812.
The major asset/s enabling the Club to show "Net Assets" of $17,220,691 are Property Plant and Equipment of $33,995,830, which further on turns out to be made up of "Depreciated Leasehold Improvements" of $29,323,182 and "Capital Works in Progress" of $3,658,542.
Good luck with all that now Saints. Good luck too Trade Creditors. Who wants to buy the "leasehold improvements" at RSEA Park or whatever they call it now?
I guess they have to be prepared for the worst case scenario.
I agree with you. What I am subtly alluding to is the idea that the AFL, or whatever entity replaces them, may see fit to 'rationalise' the competition, and coronavirus (or more accurately the consequences of the coronavirus) will allow them to argue that this was necessary in order for the new competition to survive/succeed. If this happens, where do you see our club in the pecking order?Agree with everything you've written however it is worth pointing out that every club is dependent on the AFL. I'd say that at best a mere handful of them have enough free cash sitting around that they can afford to bunker down and maintain themselves without getting desperate within 12 months of potentially zero income.

I'd say that at best a mere handful of them have enough free cash sitting around that they can afford to bunker down and maintain themselves without getting desperate within 12 months of potentially zero income. I'm talking West Coast, Collingwood, Adelaide, Hawthorn (although their income would drop massively very quickly) and maybe Richmond if they've been making hay out of their recent success. These clubs could probably weather a year without being up the creek without a paddle (but not much longer).
Almost everyone of the others would be in trouble before that without assistance from head office / Government IMO. We're one of those and far from the worst affected but definitely in danger. Starting to look like pissing hundreds of millions down the drain on GC / GWS wasn't the genius move the AFL like to describe it as - although to be fair, they likely would have just pissed it away on something else rather than making the existing teams more resilient financially and paying off Etihad faster to give them greater assets.
Horace don’t scare me like that again - I thought that was our balance sheet FFS

Yeah as shinte said below, it could get worse and impact 2021 but I doubt. Also cannot see this virus being under control and footy returned to normal in May.
Reckon it's a write-off and we got it wrong, should have kept playing as long as we could. Planes aint busy and could have been employed to carry essential footballers and coaches.
Keep the lock out in place and take a ride on the wild side. Now we're here discussing survival options ffs and yep at last check the virus was still with us.
