It actually was Hardwick's first season in charge - 2010.
The funny thing was it was not as bad as you would think watching those first 9 rounds as for the 1st time in a long time we were doing a proper rebuild and taking no shortcuts. The fans really got on board and embraced the club's plan.
Because of how far back we were (Carlton are more advanced IMO) Dimma basically pared it right back to basics and added more layers as we went along. It took a while (and is still a work in progress) for players to learn the team plan. What was clear was if one person in the chain didn't do his thing then you were awfully exposed. It was all about structure and playing your role - that was what Hardwick learned from Clarkson and I don't expect Bolton will be any different.
It will be interesting to watch.

Yeah, c'mon we're miles away. Hopefully on the right track, but we'll probably be bottom 2 this year, probably bottom 4 the next and so on.
Nice to dream about Bolton having a Hinkley-esque impact but we can't expect something like that. That was an exception. Hard yards, no short cuts, that should at last be the clubs, and fans, mantra. Consistent messaging, repetition, incremental gains, and re-establish pride throughout every part of the club and its stakeholders.
Long, hard road ahead.

Not sure win totals mean a great deal at this stage - especially if they come via Murph and Co playing blinders.
How I judge the season will be on effort levels, adjustment and implementation of a gameplan to go along with some of our younger blokes really nailing down a spot in the side. (Graham, Smith and Boekhurst in particular)
