First I'd like to say the cograts to the club. Three finals at the start of the year would have been considered a dream result.
Second, id have to say to beat Ess. in a final was great. With Hird and Lloyd and Lucus and Fletcher and their attitude of never being beaten.

But really , I have rarely been so angry walking away from a final win as that. This game should have been a 10 goal win. Just how many chances do wish to give other sides to to stay in the game, esspec sides with champions like Hird. Just how inept do we wish to look to the football community.
When we are on top we must put sword in , not just wave it around. How much effort is wasted with poor finish, how many shots, set, running, basically in the goal square do we have to miss before somebody decides finish is just as important as effort around the ball. That type of performance will see well beaten by Voss and his mob

i think its almost safe to say alot of your players thought the game was over, and didnt wanna 'risk' themselves for next week. which in itself was a risk.

lets just hope you's can pull it off next week.

i wish you's all the best, i actually hope you go all the way. Geelongs the only team i wouldnt be disappointed with watching win the flag :)
good luck :)

Anyone else notice when essendon got a sniff, they started playing direct footy? Geelong did die down to give them that sniff, but i would like to know why they didnt do that earlier. Glad they didnt though.

Cats should have been 10 goals up at 3/4 time. If you have Brisbane on the ropes next week, for god's sake, knock 'em out!

When you get the chance to play for a spot in a Grand Final you have to take it, it could be 10 years before we get another chance to do this.

Its great we've made it this far, and we've come so far in a short time, but now its time to have a real crack at the lions and see how we go.

i think we have done really well to get this far, i'll give them that. if some told u that we would be playing off for a grand final at the start of the year u would have said well thats good enough. No one at the start of the year expected geelong to do anything. so give them credit for that. all of this final experience is good for the young players because if we are to continue on being a finals contender all of this will help in the future. if we take it up to brisbane i think we could all say it was a good year.

A GF spot would be one hell of a bonus to a great year. If we get beaten next week, I will still be satisfied with how far we have come this year. 0-3 after 3 rounds to be playing off for a GF, you have to be happy with that. Whatever happens, we must improve on it next year, unless we win the flag of course! ;)

Pretty bloody happy with that. Was out of town for a week from just before the Port match and totally avoided finding out any results. Came back last night watched the Port match and was disconsolate, followed that up half an hour later watching the Essendon match and was rapt.

Not concerned with the margin. No doubt the team didn't want to do anything to jeopardise there spots when the match was already over, a la Kingsley against Port. Essendon were never close enough to seriously threaten and I reckon we would have lifted if required.

Gotta be happy with the win, but if we are to win this week, then we really need to convert 80 - 90% of our shots with in the 50. We missed some really gettable goals and if we miss them this week it will really hurt us.
