Personally I think it's great, but a fellow Blues fan I spoke to at the pub reckons we should have tried everything in our power to get rid of him... how does everyone stand with this issue now?

Very happy. Talent like that doesn't just grow on trees and his problems are ones which can be fixed unlike other headnuts (Norman, Angwin)

He has kicked, 67,63,49 goals in a club with the worst midfield. Only imagine what he could do if had a midfield the class of West Coast.

Not that happy we kept Lance, but whats done is done.

Definitely! No club can afford to lose a player of that talent. Also glad we kep Whitnall but wanna see him in the forward line only... He's definitely not a defender!

Full Forwards of Brendans ability don't come around too often. We had to keep him, although a three year deal i'm not that fussed about. Two years would have been plenty.

Anyone that can kick 49 goals with the midfield we've got is doing something right.

very happy that carlton kept Fevola . But i dont think he was going to go anywhere anyway , why would dennis take a chance on him give him a second chance and build him into a good player and then just give him away , but if carlton did get rid of Fevola they would of regreted it 12 months down the track .

Not sure if Carlton would have given him away. More likely that another club (Collingwood) would have thrown a truck load of money at him and tried to lure him away from Optus Oval.

We had to sign him up when we did, although, like I said, i'm sure a 2 year deal would have been plenty.

Should get rid of him. His attitude is poisonous within the team, and no amount of talent can fix that. This year wasn't the right time though with a week draft - next year I'd package him with our second round pick for a high first round pick.

Its addition by subtraction. Like St Kilda with Everitt, West Coast with Gehrig, Brisbane with Buckley, O'bree, Richmond with Ottens. He's not performing, he takes the team down with him and he uses up a huge chunk of salary cap space

Problem is, AFL clubs are too conservative, and too optimistic when it comes to their own players. Fevola has talent, sure, but hasn't shown any inclination to realise that talent.

happy we kept him cause he has talent and (that ugly word) potential

would not have been the end of the world if he was traded, provided the right trade came along.
for me thet would be (1 top 5 + 1 top 10 draft pick) or (1 top 5 pick + starting 18 player)

the 2006 season should give us a clearer picture on how good/bad the decision was.

Lets see what your opinion is midway through next season. If he is still struggling with his attitude then I will agree with you but let's not forget he had a great year in 04, was reasonable in 05 even though he had an injury, and on top of all that he has the worst midfield in the competition delivering the ball to him......His form in the pre-season was nothing short of sensational, he has real presence when he is on song and could be potent up forward with Lance, Waite, Betts and Fisher.....

he would have moved to richmond if it was not for richmond making a decision to only use the minium of their salary cap due to budget constraints. His best mate it chris newman. RICHMOND WAS TALKING WITH BOTH FEV AND HIS MANAGER AND HE WOULD HAVE . THE PROBLEM HE HATES PAGAN.
FACT NOT FICTION.

We'd have been foolish to get rid of a gun like Fevola. Even when we were struggling with form, and Fev himself was struggling with injury, he still kicked 49 goals in 19 matches. Where in the world would we find another player that can do that?

It's simple. He's a super talent in a side that lacks talent. Fev is a proven match winner, and IMO a premiership winner (Wok GF ;) )

To be honest, this thread should be about Whitnall.

Let me to you for a fact that during the early 90's Kouta did not like Parkin very much as he was of the opinion that he looked after the older players too much. That soon changed once Kouta matured and now we would rate him as one of the most infuential people in his career.

Fev is only 24, he has his issues but deep down is a genuine and loyal bloke, once he matures (around 26 or 27) he will become much more consistent with the level of his output and attitude.

Pretty much my thoughts as well.

Glad Fevola stayed...........should have traded Whitnall.
