This is a new season, and we're going to kick things off with a little bit of a change.

This thread is for discussion of the games we aren't playing in. It is not a thread to constantly refer to how well/badly we are going in our own games, nor is it a place to ruin the enjoyment of others with constant jabs or referrals to Carlton's woes.

Any posts that do so continuously will get deleted, and anyone who continues to push the envelope afterwards will find themselves threadbanned.

Thanks all!

Just a very well drilled and coached side. No matter the situation they know what to do

Crows are improving and are well structured. Just need to trust a bit more and they will be good

Quality game
Geel have many elite ball users and leg speed (I'd have Holmes in a heartbeat). Crows have similar, Geel just do it longer.

Interesting comments by Patrick Dangerfield post game last night,
“When it comes to the contest, I reckon the harder you go, the less chance you’ve got of being injured. That’s always been my philosophy.”

All well & good to have a crack down on a rule (15m), but it should not excuse how many obvious wrong calls are being made by umps.
Yep, they could **** up instant coffee the AFL.
Have taken something that is black & white from a rule perspective - 15 metres, there is no interpretation needed, 15 metres is 15 metres….
They have made this a focus of the umpires so that they can manipulate they game style they want played (speed at all cost) This has manufactured within the umpires a new interpretation of what this distance now is to foster the outcome the AFL wants.
They’ve “fixed” something that doesn’t need “fixing” and the game has became the more confused for it. Just ****ing dumb.
It’s ridiculous to now see players running 20 to 25 metres from kick outs and not being called because the umpire has previously ruled a kick as play on that had covered a similar distance. Clown show

Geelong again prove that playing as a team is the key and not as individuals.
They don’t have stars on every line but they work together and know each others role. Bloody well coached.

It's why they don't bottom out

Every player comes into a club with standards and a game plan that works and they understand. Young or old they know their roles and what to do in most situations

This breeds confidence and trust and a belief they can beat anyone

I see them at the pub really often, mainly Myers, Holmes, Henry/Henry, SDK, Bowes

They’ve got such a close bond, they feel super safe here - Holmes is loud and boisterous (but not a knob) and nobody films them, bothers them (other than gday, you’re playing well, quick photo etc.)

So I think the environment of Geelong as a footy town + the club environment is amazing for good football
