Makes me a bit sad watching the ball movement especially Collingwood when compared to ours.

Big difference how we move the ball at half back especially. I'm watching Pies constantly look for corridor kicks and/or get overlap run from behind...while we always just hold it up and either kick it long down the line or go for a switch that doesn't result in anything.

We are overly cautious with the ball at half back and it's clearly by instruction...our guys look frozen when we have the ball in that part of the ground and there's just no dare or creativity. We'd get better looks going i50 if we changed this part of our game.

Contrasting techniques one instills confidence on natural instinct/ability, one instills confidence by method/tactics.

agree but until we improve the f50 connections we wont look like these sides.

although i accept that a faster play will help with better connections due to defenders being put off guard

You are only ever really three kicks away from goal but if the first kick is slow and short/indirect you can guarantee the next few will suffer.

I honestly think a mindset shift will get us halfway there, then get some personnel back that is suited to that style.

We can’t do that, for now anyway, as we don’t have enough good kicks in the team , and the few we have don’t play often enough.

I don’t buy that, all our players are capable of kicking the ball well, they are AFL players FFS not kids, whether they are encouraged to do it & have the composure to execute is another story thou

I heard David king talking SEN saying how from when he saw our inter club stuff pre season with all of Saad doc williams we were moving of the back with aggression .. We short a couple of piece to be this aggressive -- surprised we haven't resumed the fwd handball with numbers till we get players back and settled

But not that brand of footy. That brand of footy takes both Daicos bros, Pendlebury, Crisp, Sidebottom, Elliott and probably a handful of McCreary, Noble, Quaynor, Hoskin-Elliott, De Goey, Hill, Maynard.

To play the way they play, they need players to trigger that go slow/go fast play. Pendlebury, Crisp and Sidebottom give them that combination of strong disposal, leadership and skill quality. Daicos bros and Elliott are all X factor and so is De Goey, but the former two and Elliott are more important most of the time. And all of them are quicker than average by foot, and are decent long kicks.

We have our own way, when we're playing well. Let's get to playing well, instead of envying other clubs their methods.

Voss has gone too far the other way because of the way we leaked goals last year.

And with Saad, Doc, Boyd, Williams out it is difficult to make the adjustment back.

I think we will improve our run and carry over the next few weeks and find a happy medium. Worried if we don’t though.

This is over simplifying things IMO, today is a very tight game and despite not scoring, the Pies are moving the ball much better than us. They also know when to go fast and go slow.
