Which Jack are you referring to G?
Ah, forgot he was going to St Kilda.

I still think they'll hold up well enough behind the ball as long as Moore stays on the park, but that's yet another area in which they're suddenly a bit thinner.

He was also caught holding the ball during the game. But to be fair Aph, he was carrying an injury…

INJURIES
Brisbane:
Jarrod Berry (shoulder).
Collingwood: Scott Pendlebury (calf), Nick Daicos (bruised ego).

Caught holding/dropping the ball on the final siren was the highlight :tearsofjoy:

Who would have thought that a team of pensioners would struggle to get through the season. Only likely to have a worse run next year.

They tried to overcome this by regularly resting senior players over a few weeks but this caused their momentum to be disrupted and never regained consistency since mid July.

I think they're going to struggle on a few fronts.

Mihocek's decline is a bigger issue than they realise to date, because the replacement in McStay has averaged just under 15 games a season; you simply cannot rely on a player who misses a quarter of the season if you include finals (and you should, because for the majority of his career he has been at a club that played finals). Outside of him, you have a 34 year old and slowing down Mason Cox, who wasn't all that and a bag of chips to begin with.

If McStay isn't playing, Mihocek retires or is traded, and Cox is rubbish, who's kicking their goals in the absence of Elliott?

Cox bringing the ball to ground is a perfectly reasonable strategy against bottom 4 sides, but top 4 sides will gift him 5 goals a week from blocking frees to shut down their front six. And that's relying on the smalls always being on.

Defensively, the inclusion of Jack to supplement Howe and Moore should make them pretty solid, but Howe has been injury prone at Collingwood and is 35. Retiring? Quaynor is also quietly a gun and can play taller, so could/should slot into that third interceptor role. Crisp, De Goey and the two Daicos brothers is a reasonable midfield to build around, but it's thin; Ned Long is a structural piece, someone they can pivot your Sidebottoms and Pendleburys around so that they aren't stuffed come the fourth term, but outside of that he's poor.

Their only line that I can see being equally strong over the next 5 seasons is the backline. Outside of that, there's going to be a huge dropoff in talent akin to the one Port has gone through over the last few years. They won't crash and burn, but they're going to find it decisively harder to score over the next few seasons.

And throwing Jack ahead of the ball won't work.
Is Mihocek severely hampered with an injury, for some time now.

Mihocek to MFC on a longer & more lucrative contract (doesn’t help their goal kicking mind you) with Buller from Swans to replace him.

Pies supporters bemoan both Elliott & Mihocek costing them games with their inaccuracy.

He is McFu..ing off !
Quite the luck.

Leaves the Lions to join the Pies under FA.
First year: injured in PF, misses a premiership against the Lions.
second year: lions win the premiership.
Third year: dropped in finals. Lions make GF.

Allen is a mistake. Gallup hitting stride rapidly…
Will be an absolute gun
Got the size, athleticism and footy I.Q
Plus confidence and determination
Composure
3 goals in a prelim under pressure
Very, very impressive
And with Morris who will also be great they are going to be set for key forwards for the next decade

Pity this didn’t happen to all the free agents that Knick off to the top teams expecting success

I actually thought was the correct non-decision. Sure, it’s usually paid, but he genuinely spoiled without eyes on the opponent.
Agree. Even when they replayed it in slow mo I couldn’t understand why the commentators were frothing at mouth. Defenders eyes on the ball and his fist clearly punches the ball without contacting Elliot’s arms.

He’s an average player imo. Not a bad mark but goal kicking can be all over the place.

2025 has been a disastrous year.
But it’s really nice that the Filth aren’t going to win the flag after being on top for most of it.
Yeah absolutely.

If filth won the flag this year on top of our shit year I’m not sure if I would have coped.

The more I see it, the more I think the right call was made. Also telling that none of the non-controlling umpires over ruled the play on call.
But according to Ralphy the AFL was to call it an error..
Jack Riewoldt adamant it was incorrect
Dunstall being a cooler head and calling as it was. Eyes on ball. Made contact with the ball.
