FWIW, I just thought the joke was that adding "2" to the end nullified copyright.

Now i'm just confused
If the title of the album is "Use Your Illusion 2" then how would a "2" at the end helped to nullify copyright for Tony Wonder? To me the copyright would still apply.

for those not knowledgeable in 1991 heavy metal mega albums.

Use your illusion was the name of one of GnR's 1991 albums. Tony Wonder assumed that by changing the name of his DVD to "Use your Illusion 2" he would avoid any copyright problems not knowing that "Use your Illusion 2" was the name of GnR's other 1991 release

Well, I figured that was the joke.

In any case, omit seems on the ball and has explained it well for those who aren't familiar with the names of Guns n Roses albums.

Well I had no idea about this. I don't even remember the quote actually.

Huh. I thought it was more a reference to the lawsuit that the band Arrested Development bought against the show for trademark infringement.

I think they did it again with the whole "Motherboy" plot line.

It is definitely referring to GNR. Told you it was subtle, Rod Stroker.

I thought it was about this as well. Wasn't there a hip hop group going by a similar name. Or was that the subtle joke with motherboy?

It was that as well.

That quote totally encapsulates what I love about the show - it transcends mere pop culture references into incredibly clever intertextualism. It's one joke - one line of dialogue - that's funny in four or five different ways, ranging from the obvious to the incredibly subtle.

It remains a mystery to me how a show like this could be cancelled due to poor ratings, and dreck like According To Jim can run for another half a decade and rate its socks off.

"Ta-da."

Tobias: Oh, well, then perchance I might be able to borrow your cellular telephone?

G.O.B.: I’m not fit to run a company, and I don’t deserve a fancy phone.

Tobias: Well, the Blue Man Group might need me, and I do deserve a fancy phone.

Narrator: They didn't... and he doesn't.

Gob: Steve Holt's not my son.
George Michael: Steve Holt? What, the moron jock?
Gob: That's my son, you pothead.

Lindsay Funke: Barry, did you talk to a doctor?
Barry Zuckerkorn: I did. I have poison oak. Do you believe it? How the hell did I get that?
[Cut to a shot of a rest area]
Lucille Bluth: She was talking about George.
Barry Zuckerkorn: Oh, he's the same. Look, I guess we should decide on who's going to speak for the family. I would, but I have Laker tickets.
[Cut to a shot of the rest area]

George Snr: The Brits set me up. I heard nothing about Iraq.
Michael: Dad, we have a picture of you and Saddam Hussein.
[picture of George Sr. shaking hands with Saddam Hussein. Caption says "Bluth-Hussen Meeting 1998." ]
George Snr: I thought he was the Soup Nazi. I was just congratulating him on a great job.

"Steve Holt is a bastard. He doesn’t even know who his real father is. What else don’t we know about Steve Holt? George Michael Bluth is a cool guy. His dad is a powerful executive, working for this man. The girls like him just fine. Young and old, it doesn’t matter... in the dark."
