It's a bit hard these days.

People are so far trained on what to laugh at, and when.

So when you get a comedy that isn't based upon sex and fart jokes, these people are confused, but wait for that reliable canned laughter. When it doesn't come, they're at a loss.

Keep to 2.5 Men, kids.

WAIT, WHAT WERE YOU GUYS LAUGHING AT?

AD perfected sex jokes. Done subtle. Homoerotic and Incest jokes were 30-35% of the humour.

Port_Adelaide's sense of humour is either broken or not apparent.

Each to their own, but I don't think you will find another one in this thread.

I very much rate AD, but, and someone will probably kill me for this (notably Whomb), I think it is a tad overrated. Before anyone jumps to any conclusions I have seen all three seasons twice and own all on dvd. I am starting to think that people like it because others apparently don't get it.

Disagree, never met anyone whose actually made an honest attempt to get it and hasn't.

The only people I've encountered who don't like it are grouchy "everything is shit" people or those who need TV spoonfed to them in the 2.5 men type variety.

Would go as far as to say it was Western Culture's greatest pop-cultural achievement of the early noughties.

Big call.

One of the single greatest moments in AD. Was in tears when I first saw it, and it still cracks me up! :D :thumbsu:

Yep. Gold.

I'd hazard that Mrs Featherbottoms umbrella leap off the balcony onto the coffee table is perhaps the funniest moment in tv ever.

"We shan't be telling your mother about this, shan't we?".

"I SHOULD BE IN THIS ****!" :D

HAHA! That Mrs. Featherbottom scene is by far in the top 3 for me. GOLD! :thumbsu:

I just remembered one particular scene which had me crying of laughter for minutes. So simple, but it's the delivery, Michael's disappointed, yet confused sigh that make the scene. GOB's attempt to cover up the 'smoke' by blaming it on the cold weather just tops it off.

For those of you who can't remember, it's when Michael talks to GOB about the suspicions he has that George Michael is smoking marijuana, questioning the morals of everyone in his family, only to realise he has walked in on GOB smoking a joint.

Go to 1:00 mark of this clip to see the hilariousness! :thumbsu:

Was vaguely aware of this shows existence, but knew nothing about it nor had seen a single second of anything to do with until I noted they were showing it on the new FX channel, so I thought I'd give it a go.

All I can say is 'better late than never'.
