I am not particularly humble, but at the same time I pay respect to the opposition, if that makes sense. I think its from being bought up in Perth and having to put up with all the Eagles supporters and their glory years where they trounced us. Any particular win I made sure to sink my teeth into, but when the opposition team did play good football, I also acknowledged that.

Ive never been a fan of the lid. Ive always been immensely passionate and once we had won 10 or so in a row, boy did I start rubbing it in. And especially now, my family and friends (and supporters on here) never hear the end of it. but I am not one to go on about how this team is crap, etc etc like alot of people seem to be.

So yeah, you can be arrogant and at the same time respectful.

It really is irrelevant what anyone else thinks about Geelong supporters, everyone has their opinions on everyone/everything, and not everyone can like everyone else. I don't understand how you or anyone else could really care whether Geelong supproters are liked, I don't think it makes a difference either way. A lot of things on here are misinterpreted anyway, I mean some posts and or threads (like the one linked in this thread) would be made regardless of our position on the ladder, and it's only appearing arrogant to some because we're winning. I'm not one of the posters parading around BigFooty giving it to everyone, but I don't have a problem with the ones that do, as I don't regard myself as the arbitrator of arrogance, and supporters and the club would be/are disliked anyway because of how well we are playing (is that arrogant?) with the tall poppy syndrome that us Aussies love so much.

True Geelong Cats fans try to conduct themselves in the same manner and with the same humbleness as the team/coaching staff itself does.

That final sentence, especially the bolded, is a complete wank. You are not more of a supporter/fan because of how humble you are.

Hi guys, just wanted to congratulate you on a job well done yesterday. I didn't see any signs of arrogance from the players yesterday and I haven't really experienced it from the fans either. I can certainly understand people getting excited about their team and I'd be lying if I said that I'd be any different if my team was the benchmark at the moment.

Every Club has a few supporters who stir the pot and carry on but on the whole I think you guys are all pretty level headed. There's certainly supporters of other Clubs on BF that have you guys well and truly covered in the arrogance department. Strangely they seem to support Clubs that have sweet FA to be arrogant about too

I won't wish you good luck for the rest of the season as you don't really need it at the moment.

I would have thought on the clubs site you can say mostly what you want. If other clubs supporters want to drop in and get upset, that's their problem.
Bay 13 - anything goes. The big risk is the wild comments can bite you on the backside.
The habit I don't like is trolling on other clubs sites. it annoys the cr*p out of me when others do it to us - like Freo last week.
I'm 50 yrs old. I've had a lot of dark years following the cats. From when we were crap through to when we were great but couldn't win a flag. If I'm a bit over the top on my own clubs site, stiff sh*t for the other supporters!

Pull your heads in and remember Geelong has had some pretty lean times in the very near past (have you forgotten 2006 already?). You're giving us all a bad reputation that none of us needs or wants.

Really if you want to have a crack at me then why not have the balls and say it openly. Honestly I don't see why we can't celebrate a win with some harmless fun on our own board. I cannot understand certain tight arse individuals feel compelled to try and make everyone pretend like we are not happy about our team for the benefit of opposition supporters. Who gives a stuff what opposition supporters think of what we post on our board.

Is it arrogance....bloody oath. But I can tell you this I always was envious of the supporters of the great Hawks eras, the Bombers eras etc when they were supreme and their calm confidence and joy they had about their team. They were arrogant and we all hated them and envied them.

Now it is our turn to have a moment in the sun and all you can say is, "Tch Tch Old boy, let's keep it under control now!" Well that maybe your way of handling our current success but please do not shove your moralising down our throats

Well said. I was going to smash Bay 13 last night but I was pissed as a (pirate's?) parrot so decided it might not be such a good idea LOL. The only thread that I thought was on the nose on this board was the 'Hawthorn is soooooo jealous thread'. Who gives a toss about those overrated girls? Let's just scrape em off our claws next Friday night.

I'm happy with any arrogance we may show on the Geelong board. Not so much in other forums, nor really rubbing the dirt in, but there is no harm in letting everyone know that we have won 34 of 36 games, and are 15-1 on top of the table.

By the way, at 15-1, we are now 15-1...for the first time ever at Rd 16 in any season. Even in 1953 we had lost a couple, as in 1952 when we lost two and had a draw early in that season. This Cats side is staking a claim to be the best Geelong side ever. A flag this year will absolutely seal that, and we are certainly not putting the cart before the horse in that regard. But, again as a fan from the mid 70's in the days of Larry Donohue, Scratcher Neal and Jeff Cassidy, this era is absolute Gold! I'm enjoying this for all it's worth, we can proudly say we barrack for Geelong and others are jealous of US!

So often we've looked at Carlton, Essendon, North Melbourne, and particularly Hawthorn and West Coast, and longingly wish we were on that plane. I don't agree with the OP. I think that it's absolutely necessary to have discretion on the main board and tact on other club boards, but when it comes to our board.... PARRRR-TTTYYY!!!

I mean, it's like your bedroom compared to the rest of the house. You should be free to roam about your own house without a problem - but if you barge into someone's bedroom and catch them with their knob out, I don't think you can really get offended.

Well said!! I for one am enjoying being a supporter of an AWESOME team that is really leading the comp. Enjoy it while we can....GO CATS!!!

Nemini, in fairness to Big Footy Geelong supporters, it is probably only one particular poster who is trolling on every thread possible and trying to annoy as many supporters of different clubs as possible. It is unfair to tar everyone with the same brush.

We had heaps of Geelong supporters on our board in the last week leading up to the game and 99% were fantastic people who added to the atmosphere of the build up. The only real troll we had there was a fremantle supporter who tried to drum up a bit of anti Geelong feeling. To no avail I may add.

All club boards have their trolls,agent provacateurs and bad taste posters.But from my observations, these are in the minority for Geelong supporters here.

Personally, I don't think you are arrogant. You waited for ages to hold the premiership cup(I am still waiting) so enjoy it while it is there. You get kicked enough when you are on the bottom so may as well have some champagne when you are winning. Life is meant to be enjoyed

i've read every post in this thread and there is nothing i can say that has not already been said but i do agree (and had a bit of a giggle) at the bedroom theory from one of the more recent posters.

I really do hope everyone here appreciates what we're seeing from our team and when it comes to OUR board express your pleasure as you please, i say.

I enjoy logging on to BigFooty as most do im sure to hear the rants and raves, it's an outlet. Nothing too serious, harmless fun. Lets treat it as such
