Come on you blokes, let's get on with it.

Make no mistake, Ayres was ropable and will all but beat some sense into all of those blokes. The selectors will have some work to do, but things can only improve. Brisbane this week, on our turf. Get there and hold up big bloody signs saying 'kick it down the guts' and 'stop playing wide' and even 'tortured but loyal' if you think it'll help. I reckon it will but I can't get there.

Sydney had to have done something right to almost snatch Saturday's match. I didn't see any of it, what did they do? Where can we exploit Brisbane and how can we cover our sore points? First look at how to overcome the opponent, then secondly, look at improving our side.

That said, it is the week spanning Round 1 and Round 2 - why not stay on the club's back through every minute of every day this week and say what went wrong out there either by letter, radio or email or whatever. Blunt and pointless complaining/whingeing/baying for blood won't do, but examinations and examples and ways on improving things need to be shown. We've got until Saturday.

Your line-ups please...

Sydney had an ammusing gameplan, they just held onto the ball for a ridiculously long time and chipped it around to deny Brisbane getting the ball. It worked well but required pinpoint passing.

They could not sustain that kind of passing for four quarters and Brisbane flooded the defense with loose players like Johnson who cut everything off.

If Brisbane gets alot of drive from their half-back line they are hard to beat. You almost want a defensive half-forward line to keep the ball locked up and just rely on the midfield targetting one guy in the goalsquare or the pockets.

Brisbane is always ripe for the picking away from their home early in the year. Never an easy game but they beatable. Would require alot closer manning up than this week though.

I'd say maybe experiment with a small forward line like last year's H&A match. This time, we can actually make it a paradise for them as our talls can give crumbs. Play Johncock, Burns and Carey maybe in the forward line, with Perrie, Welsh and Perhaps Lads in the half-forward line. If Burns stays out, which I'm still thinking maybe he should (his recent form notwithstanding) have Macca handcuffed to a HFF all match.

Again, just having rants from 5aa et al and random complaints about the form/structure won't make anything change, will it? How about putting together a good set-up/gameplan to beat the premiers on Saturday night in a new thread and then leaving a copy of our three/five/ten/xxx point plan on the front desk of the club by at least thursday morning or something? Just emailing the club a thread with a plethora of tips will not be looked at seriously. What do you reckon? It's just gone Round 1, let's nip this in the bud. Don't fill this thread up with whether that's a good idea or not, stay on topic.

I've just read the Herald Sun's site and Carey's on report for striking Grant. He's got a question mark like Biggles now, so factor this into your outlook on the match.

I read that and I must say that if Carey goes for that then AFL have to have a good hard look at themselves. Grant milked that as much as he could and it worked for him.

Carey was walking across and Grant looked over his right shoulder and backtracked into Carey. Carey reacted but if that is suspendable offence then there is something seriously wrong with the system.

Then again we are talking about a tribunal that consistently inconsistent.

The 50 metre penalty was enough of a joke. If this charge isn't withdrawn before it even goes to the tribunal then the tribunal are going to be very busy every week with ridiculous charges.

Sanity prevails ;)

If he got pinged for that it would have been an absolute disgrace.
