14 Hawks: wanted them to show buddy that teams, not individuals win premierships and he shouldn’t have left
15 Eagles: to stop the 3 peat
16 Bulldogs: fairytale run
17 Crows: can’t stand Richmond supporters. Might be just the ones I know but even pre-success always had an excuse for losses etc
18 Eagles: have a soft spot for them
19 GWS: as 2017 but had zero interest. Tigers v Pies would have been epic

2008: Hawthorn. Because Geelong smashed us the year before
2009: St Kilda. Same reason as 2008.
2010: Collingwood. Best team that year and deserved it.
2011: Geelong. Didn't want Collingwood to go back to back.
2012: This is quite possibly the only Grand Final that I was 100% neutral and I did not care who won.
2013: Hawthorn. Best team that year and deserved it.
2014: Sydney. Didn't want Hawthorn going back to back
2015: West Coast. Didn't want Hawthorn winning 3 in a row
2016: Sydney. Could not warm to the Dogs because that whole fairytale was sickening.
2017: Richmond. No explanation required.
2018: West Coast. Best team that year, they were the ones travelling to the other side of the country and back every second week and had to win it at the MCG.
2019: Richmond. I never gave GWS much chance and I was disappointed it wasn't a Richmond vs Collingwood GF. Plus that was the greatest chance there was of 119 being beaten.

For the granny I almost always barrack for the underdog or whoever has the longer premiership drought
That's a good way of doing it, especially when I have no real care for the teams involved.

Though I also hope the best team wins too.... so 2016 goes against it a little.

I only started really getting into AFL in 2004.

2004: Port Adelaide (for whatever reason I didn't want to see Brisbane win 4 in a row)
2005: West Coast (duh)
2006: West Coast (duh)
2007: Geelong (I was still a bit pissy that Port beat us earlier that finals series)
2008: Hawthorn (masochist me wanted the team who had only lost one game that year to lose the biggest game of the year. and the god damn sandwich)
2009: Geelong (a Saints supporting mate from school was giving everyone s**t all season, I love him to bits but it was satisfying seeing them lose)
2010: Collingwood (replace mate with manager and you have the same reason as above)
2011: Geelong (didn't really care who won but thought it'd be nice that the premiers were the ones who knocked us out the week before)
2012: Hawthorn (I dont particularly like Sydney, a dislike that started with the rivalry in the mid 2000s and has continued since)
2013: Hawthorn (I wanted Freo at the start of the week due to most of my family supporting them but come bounce down I wanted Hawks to win)
2014: Hawthorn (again, don't particularly like Sydney)
2015: West Coast (duh)
2016: Sydney (despite my dislike for them I was still a bit pissy that the dogs minced us in the first week and was annoyed with the hype they were getting)
2017: Adelaide (I wanted them to win the flag from the start of finals and was pretty flat when they lost)
2018: West Coast (duh)
2019: GWS (I got sucked into the memes lol)

2006 - West Coast
2007 - Didn't care. Didn't watch it.
2008 - Hawthorn - Makes me barf that I actually did this. I wanted to see the upset happen so that Geelong don't equal Essendon's 2000 record. Will never barrack for Hawthorn again unless they play Carlton.

I normally just hope for a good game and don’t generally go for a team. 2016 I wanted the Bulldogs to win until I observed the armchair ride they received from the umps.

I have a lot of experience with supporting neutral teams in grand finals that's for sure...

2004 - Port, to break the streak
2005 - Sydney, because you can't live in Perth, support a non-WA side and have anything more then a strong dislike of West Coast
2006 - Sydney, same as above
2007 - Geelong, to break the drought
2008 - Geelong, because bugger Hawthorn
2009 - Saints, also to break the drought
2010 - Saints, as above
2011 - Geelong, because bugger Collingwood
2012 - Sydney, as per 2008
2013 - Freo, as per 2008 and to break the drought
2014 - Sydney, as per 2008/12
2015 - Neither
2016 - Started Bulldogs for the drought, became Sydney quickly due to s**t umpiring. Still good to see the dogs get up of course, but #freekickbulldogs
2017 - Adelaide, because my then-gf's old man was a Richmond supporter and a dickhead
2018 - Neither
2019 - GWS, same as 2017 and BIG BIG SOUND
2020 - Geelong out of the teams left
