O.K I didn't see any of last nights game. Were Hawthorn so bad or Freo so good?
I do actually think the Dockers are a bit underrated by a lot of people.
The 2 Goals deep into the last 1/4 must be a concern particularly off kicking 3 goals for the 1st 1/2 last week. Obviously Macpharlin found the world can be tough.
BTW interested on how Bateman & Hazell went.
Like to here from those that saw it.

i saw the first three quaters and well, what let us down was our ball handling skills, our kicking and our marking. it was all shocking
and it seemed as though we werent manning up coz the dockers blokes were always free.
I'm not usually one to say this but the umpires seemed to be leening a little of the dockers way, especially when modra was involved
i cant comment on the last qtr coz my dad decided we were leaving but from what i heard we played a bit better, but going by what i saw we couldnt have really played any worse
Hazell and Bateman did a few good things between them but there was nothing that really stood out. It was nice to see them both run hard at the ball when there was a contest and they both hit the man hard
One more thing, good stuff by Dicko to get knocked down and get straight up and get the kick away, would have been great if it went through for goal.

"Give McCabe a well deserved payrise"

went down to the casino last night to watch the match and a little disappointed in what i saw..... after a good start (score was 8 - 0) the freo midfield took complete control of the match and totally outplayed the hawk counterparts.... you have to give it to freo they deserved the win.....

but in saying this i personally am not too concerned as it is unlikely the hawks are going to play this badly too often......lets see plenty of dropped marks, fumbles, handballing directly to opponents and indiscriminent kicks summed up the first half display... i think the hawks had 16 turnovers in the first half alone.......
i was impressed with the form of lord and smith throughout the match and thank god we have john hay in the back half or the result may have been much worse than the 26 points.

you know you have to start to worry when dutchy starts dropping simple marks and noone else in our forward line could have any impact.

the second half effort was much better and the hawks were able to put together some flowing play.... just poor finishing resulted in this not displaying on the scoreboard.....
in the final qtr the hawks played much better with holland, thompson and croad displaying much better form....
also impressed with bateman who made the most of his chance(sorry couldnt help myself) and also hazzell (no 14) who i thought showed a bit of promise.......
overall a little disappointing as it was basically over at half time but at least they fought it out and came out with a respectable loss.... meaning we are still in with a chance of making the ansett cup finals..........
