Now I'll admit that beforehand, had I given it much thought, I would have acknowledged that I understood that the Australian media is by and large more interested in the viewership/readership than they actually are of maintaining a level of professionalism and integrity. Hell - I may not even have blamed them.

A lecherous entity, far more concerned with whether or not they can grab the slovenly attention of the masses than whether they can inform and offer relevant comment. The very article from which this thread was based demonstrates this very well with a headline that begs for the 'click' more than it attempts to inform.

You'll note, to this point I am not offering you any comment on the innocence or guilt of Essendon or its players. As far as the behaviour of the media is concerned - it really doesn't matter. We are breeding a race of ill informed hicks that care less for facts and thoughts and more for sensationalism and impact.

The sad part is of course, that a media can only act in this sleazy, grimy fashion if the people let it. And I have watched, first in dismay and now in absolute horror at what I would have thought would have been a rejection of sleaze instead revealing itself as an idiocracy more content with bright lights and loud noises than reason and sense.

Much as it absolutely terrifies me, I have had to admire the absolute Machiavellian genius of many of the main players - the ability to manipulate this heaving mass of 'emptiness' would be impressive if not for the sobering reality of it.

Your post, one of now tens of thousands tells me more than I care to know. You wrote four sentences, poorly I might add, and managed to make not only baseless statements, but attempted to take some ridiculous high ground - of which none exists.

And you wonder why I would respond with a mix of humour and utter derision.

Exactly, if there was no evidence they wouldn't bother with an ex-judge. They have just said there's no evidence and cleared the players. He's there to make sure all is above board legally to infract the players so there's no comeback legally through the CAS. They took TB4 according to the interim report so good good luck Essendon getting off.

One could read that infractions are imminent based solely on the fact that Dank wasn't interviewed.
ASADA would find it hard to justify no infractions when they didn't even interview Dank.

Even still, I stick by the theory that the AFL has more power over ASADA - than vice versa.
On that basis, Essendon should be ok.

I'm saying it's most likely that they were misled by the club as to what they were taking. If that's the case then making phone calls or doing basic research themselves is going to be irrelevant. Also remember that they are AFL footballers not scientists - they should not be expected to have have an expert level of understanding in these areas.
