Thrilled with this pick. Glad we picked up Johnson, he was the one I was personally hoping for. Very exciting talent with plenty of upside, great athleticism and knows where the goals are. Really caught my eye watching the SANFL the last couple of years.

You'd hope not but I'd be lying if I didn't have some concerns in that respect. Bloke need to learn to let the kids play a bit or get out of the way and let someone else who sees a point of difference as a positive take the reigns.

I'd say at this point there's already a decent chance that he washes out at the Hawks anyway due to a projected lack of opportunity going forward. Anyone thinking he'll immediately be able to do at VFL level what he did to a heavily undermanned Crows seconds outfit in that one game at SANFL level are probably in for a bit of a shock.

Good luck to him though, hopefully the cards fall his way and he can make a fist of it at VFL / AFL level. Might not be with the Hawks either and not making it there wouldn't necessarily be a death knell for his AFL prospects as I'd still have a sniff at him with a rookie pick if the Hawks cut him.

Yeah I get that players mature at different rates etc. but nobody was fawning over Mihocek before picked him. I back Hines ability to know and pick talent. Clearly he isn’t as good a fit as people think at AFL level.

Ok now that I have taken a deep breath, I think we'll be ok with these two, Johnson looks really good (in the highlights) & Begg, well young but looks like he has something, could be a tall defender as well.

look on the bright side, at least they are over 180 cm.
