When you have Smith and Clarke that can roll their arm over I doubt that another part timer is going to be considered that high on the agenda (especially if Ahmed plays).
I'd be very surprised if Michael Clarke ever bowls again.

He could probably roll his arm over still but any prolonged spells are probably not possible (or ideal given his back).

They are part timers though, not all rounders.

Watson barely bowls enough to be called an 'all rounder' these days, and M.Marsh is still raw and lets not break him down.

It's more likely that S marsh or Voges will bowl than Clarke.

Watson better increase his bowling contribution because he's not in the team for his batting alone, if not congrats M Marsh.

Which is why I wouldn't play Watson. I mean how much did he bowl last summer? Maybe 30 overs across 5 tests...on the flattest pitches ever assembled. It is why I have said, if he aint bowling 10 overs an innings, he can be dropped. His batting is average or just above average on a good day. I just hope we don't play Mitch Marsh and bowl him to the ground, as I still feel physically he is a year away from being able to do that. We don't need him to become like Watson where he thinks he is a batsman who bowls party pies.

The last Test Series against India Watson was starting to bowl a lot more overs...

A move down the order, which looks like will happen should allow him to bowl more again.

Watson will play for sure, and will most likely bat at 6.
With Starc bowling well with the red ball in the 1st test against the West Indies he could be a smokie for the ashes.

Who do you drop for Starc though?

He actually bowled 84.4 overs in 4 test which would technically qualify him for your made up figure of 10 overs an innings.

Harris, Johnson and Hazlewood should be first picked. Good mix of swing, seam, height, pace, accuracy, left arm/right arm. Plus if you thrown Lyon and Watson in the mix it is a well rounded attack for English conditions.

Starc throws out the balance slightly for me. He is making good improvements to his game but isn't quite there yet for me (especially when compared to Harris).

Really just ahead?

Hazlewood has been our best quick since his debut at the gabba, he and harris are the first picked for england.
And Johnson just has to play. Its a good problem to have. If only we had this much depth in our batting.

Do you even watch cricket?

Go Aussie Go!
If I have enough money and there are tickets left, I'll fork out the £40 to go and watch you playing at Stormont in August.

Would definitely have Harris as the first bowler on the team sheet. I can't see him playing five tests necessarily (hope he does) but no point taking him to be a backup. He is an outstanding bowler and hopefully the long break has done him good. Hazlewood and Johnson would round out the seam attack for me. It's worth noting (and you will know if you ever listen to TMS) that Graeme Swann keeps banging on that because the drainage is so good now at English test grounds, the outfields and the squares are a lot drier meaning that spinners will play an ever more important role from now on in England.
