Warner and Clarke have credit in the bank. Watson doesn't. And hell, I'm a fan of Watson, but Marsh is outplaying him with both bat and ball.
How does Clarke have credit in the bank?

So it's okay to take past form into account for Clarke but not for Watson. You guys are so hypocritical it's not even funny.

I think it's more recent form (past year of cricket) that people are judging Watson/Clarke/Warner on. Granted Clarke didn't have the greatest summer last year but you have to have faith in your captain at the beginning of a big series like this.

Watto averages 35.......... if youre taking his past into account he doesnt get a gig

Watto is a hack - what dont you understand about this?
Dual Allan border medalist is a hack. Do you even cricket?

I dont think I've ever been wrong on a single cricket call I've made on here. I backed in Starc and I think he will pay off. I think I backed Kawaja at some point so maybe I have been wrong.

Seriously how Diabolical are those Lyon figures. Poor fella. Bad captaincy as well just making him trundle in when there must be nothing for him.

He won those in 2010 and 2011
Since July of 2011 he has averaged 30.33 with the bat (2 centuries from 31 matches) and 35 with the ball
He was kept in the side because we didn't really have a batsman who could provide something with the ball for many years. I agree that some people go a bit over the top with the Watson hate, but lets not pretend that he's an icon of Australian cricket.

Plus there's a bit of a lull in good batsmen pushing for Clarke's spot, and with Rogers retiring and Voges a fossil, Clarke is all but guaranteed to choose his own end date.
On the other hand, There's a few pushing for Watto's who has been poor for years.

I just assume any Watto/Marsh debate is done under the assumption that (fair or not) Watto is the incumbent and Marsh has to do enough to displace him. You'd think that'd be the case given the tour games but hard to know with the selectors.

Essex taking us to the cleaners this innings.

Given he's not in the squad probably not the place to put this but wasn't sure it deserved its own thread.

Faulkner taking out Muppet of the Month getting done for drink driving in the UK. Well old enough to know better and surely can afford a cab.

By chance I came across his twitter/instagram pages maybe a month ago and remember leaving thinking it wasn't exactly the most professional impression that he chooses to share with the world. Nothing particularly bad, just full of shots of lads with beers on a night out.

I probably sound like a wowser, but yeah it seems every second post involves alcohol or stuffing around. I don't begrudge him for it, he still is in pretty outstanding nick conditioning wise and looks to have a pretty awesome lifestyle with the IPL and playing as a pro on the county circuit, but I would have thought in this PC day and age someone from CA/his management would have told him to tune it down.

Good fight back with the ball. Nice figures for Starc after being a bit wayward early.

A worrying score card from our 2nd innings though given how stupidly placid the pitch must be. At least Clarke got a few, badly need him to contribute come Cardiff.

Actually after watching the highlights maybe the pitch isn't so great anymore.

I like the irony in this story of having pictures of him with VB sponsorship on his clothing

He's a young dude. His Instagram looks like every other young dudes. Sheesh.

Imagine if Doug Walters and Rod Marsh had Instagrams back in the day!

He means when Watson opened, or at least I assume he does. I can't think what other time he is referring to.

He did get on that run for a while where he was just about our most important player. Those days are long gone though.

He has to bowl more than 6 overs if all he's offering is a good economy rate. If that's all he can muster an innings pick Shaun Marsh and have Smith/Voges/Clarke/Warner bowl them.
Watson really hasn't had much opportunity or need to bowl too many over recently, but looking back at last summer he was bowling about 12 overs per innings which is more than enough for an allrounder. Just can't bat as seen last night
