I would of picked Inglis but thats not how CA work, they operate with who is next in line no matter how long it takes and what form the player is in matters not. Carey was always a lock.
I hope he does well because after all he is playing for Australia. If he doesn't though then 5 teats is enough, it's not like he is an inexperienced cricketer. He either can or he can't.

Agree with that, give him this summer make a call after. Wouldn't be against a short term option like Pierson if they feel Inglis needs a shield season.

They should if Broad doesn’t play Warner should send England a Christmas cake! Anderson is still their best quick.
Right, I reckon if they line up with broad and Anderson the whole Australian team will buy the Christmas cake. Anderson is their best bowler in England, in Australia he is ok at best. Broad is done, injury back up only

Ask Australia who they'd rather face and they would sign the ticket now to face Wood or Robinson over those two

Probably get flamed for this but stuff it.

I never want to see Inglis in the baggy greeen. He's a Pom. He was born in Yorkshire and lived there until he was 14. Hell he's even admitted he supported England in the Ashes. Okay it's not quite as bad as Jofra Archer playing u/19s for the West Indies and then England changing their qualification rules to shoehorn him in the team but it still doesn't sit right with me.

He's a much better prospect than Carey but he's not one of us.

What are your thoughts on our second best bat?

I know it's not the topic of this thread but I reckon it's a bit of a joke that players can swap countries and that the ICC doesn't have universal rules in place for when/how it can happen. Like the AFL free agency it just becomes another way the big countries (esp. England)/clubs can get better at the expense of the poor/small.

He came here just at that age range when he hadn't played a lot of serious cricket and therefore he is more of a reflection of Australian Cricket than England so I am fine with it.

Anyways, they took Sam Hain away from us so **** them

Am I the only person that agrees with Henriques? He does well in the Shield the last few years, gets picked for an overseas tour and now can’t even make it in an extended squad of 25. He’s not getting much sympathy from social media from what I’ve seen

He's bang on the money.

Trying to make sense of the Aussie selectors is a waste of time though.

Quick question about Perth not probably getting the 5th test. No issue with that by the way.

But really wanted to know why under existing circumstances (Covid and Deadbeat Mcgowen) that CA didn't put the 1st test in Perth. That way all quarantine has been done for the summer, they can then play a lead up game against WA and then the test and then not have to worry about Premier FIGJAM for the rest of the summer.

Seems perfectly logical thats how it should of been done but I understand sport and logic don't generally go hand in hand in Australia.

Because the summer traditionally starts at the GABBA and you shouldn’t get special treatment for being difficult

You can also not be difficult you know. They have done 1 quarantine there’s no need for 2…and as if England are agreeing to it. It’s not just them either it’s the broadcasters, families, etc. it’s WA’s prerogative but your premier has been difficult all the way through.

Cricket always should start in Brisbane because the later you go to Brisbane the more likely weather is an issue.

There was an easy solution and it’s all on WA here…

I don't think I was saying Perth should get special treatment, I was just pointing out what I think the logical thing to do was. To get the main 5 cricket grounds having a test that is how it should of been planned in my opinion. Doesn't bother me as I won't go to a test at Optus stadium but I just think none of this would be in conversation if some common sense had of taken place.
And before you say I get that common sense is rare these days.

I’ve found one positive with the team…

At least Langer didn’t find a way to pick Marsh…

That’s a positive I guess

My point was they would of only needed to one quarantine and that was in perth, start the test in Perth last week and Brisbane host the second at the same time they would normally.

Mate I think Mcgowen is a twat so it's not about supporting him. I just thought if they wanted a test in perth that was the logical way. My thought now is they don't want a test in perth.

It is because tradition dictates that the first test is at the Gabba
