Squad is in

World Test Championship Final and Men's Ashes squad: Pat Cummins (c), Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Cameron Green, Marcus Harris, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Marsh, Todd Murphy, Matthew Renshaw, Steve Smith (vc), Mitchell Starc, David Warner

There's a 3 day turnaround between the 2nd and 3rd Tests as well as the 4th and 5th Tests. They'll likely rest and rotate the quicks between those matches if their workload was especially big.
You forgot 1887, 1888, 1889, 1890, 1892, 1893, 1894, 1895, 1896, 1898.

If the rumors are true about flat pitches than I think David Warmer will thrive this series.

Most of his runs have come from those type of wickets.

So are the Poms going with flat Bazball wickets ? Or they going with wickets with some Juice ? What do we think our attack should be ? I'm probably leaning Cummins, Hoff and Boland.

If they drop Scotty I’ll riot, how could you possibly come to that conclusion after the final?

Starc should go for Hazlewood, he’s just not needed in England, Bazball will feed on Starc. Shut up shop against Boland/Green/Hazlewood/Cummins at one end and take Starc for 6 an over at the other, easy

Surely they couldn't be that stupid? Absolutely plays right onto our hands and shows lack of confidence in there side. They (and their aggressive batting approach) is much more suited to juicy wickets. Produce flat decks and they will be ground into dust much like in Australia and simply will not be able to take 20 wickets.

Still think flat track stuff is a bluff, england arent stupid for all talk of batting englands quicks vs our batsmen on helpful decks usually ends with them on top, flat decks kills off the danger of jimmy/woakes/broad/robinson and exposes even more the loss of leach, pitches will be green england will back themselves to outscore us on those decks.

Agree - however the pundits will say that whilst Starc can leak runs, he can also bowl unplayable spells at times resulting in multiple quick wickets.

The gap between his best and his worst is staggering at times.

Watching the preview of the 1st test on Fox last night, Michael Vaughan was concerned that apart from the test against Ireland, most of the Poms haven't played any cricket at all.

Don't think he was too please that Moeen has been recalled....

Is there not any other decent spinners in county cricket?

The photo of the Edgbaston pitch posted earlier looks pretty dry already, it may not be a bluff.

Been watching quite a bit of Pom cricket, mostly league, and their decks are on the dry side. Not a green top to be seen.

Some of the county strips early had some green tops, but since then they’ve all looked pretty dry. Even the oval for the WTC was pretty dry underneath. Edgbaston looks very dry from that most recent photo. Square looks hard too, I’d expect some reverse late in the innings.

This may backfire on Smith as his greatest innings have been on difficult decks. Is what stands him apart from mere mortals. Give him an easy track and he may not concentrate as hard and become vulnerable.

Have to chuckle over this article about Steve Smith "finding his hands". No doubt Smudge wont have to go looking for them for this series, going on his classy WTC dig.

Boy the Poms are giving Boland a touch up.
There's a match thread BG

3 tests down with 3 to go.

weren't they updating the squad at this point ?

lyon may now be officially out of the squad but may hang about for the remainder of the series. swepson is over there and may come into the squad, with murphy breaking back into the XI.

no batting changes as harris, renshaw, marsh, inglis don't look like getting a look in (unless an injury), so no need to add anyone.

they may top up the squad with neser as he is still lurking.
