Pick Weatherald and stick with him, you need an opener that’s going to push the agender and this is probably going to be Usmans last go stick with Weatherald for the ashes series and replace Usman with Renshaw either during the series if Usman fails or after it and have the young openers smash down the door to replace one or both of them.

Marnus is the best option at 3 don’t **** around with it.
Only one of Green or Webster can play and it’s at 6 as an AR.

I wonder if Lyon will play in Perth.....or is even needed in Perth.....Webster bowls offies if needed.....allows Green and Webster to play

We aren’t going in with no spinner in Perth! The last thing we need is Smith getting suspended for over rates

2/119 last year. i think there's the discussion that england bat quickly enough maybe his overs aren't required? with the all rounder/s in?

Not unless you want Smith suspended for over rates.

What shield final are you on about? Victoria were last in a shield final in 2022/23 and Kellaway made 6 and 7

2025, he made 151 not out

Thought it was the final was the final round apologies. Was a pressure hundred

Yep gets through 15 overs he’s in. It’s just a question where and if we play both A/R’s
Yeah why pick the guy who took a 5fa and is the incumbent when you can pick the guy for simply bowling for the first time in damn near a couple years.

He took 5/50 but that is secondary as we want him for for his batting, which has been terrible.

Think his form has sealed the First Test Team. Weatherald will open, Marnus at 3 and Green will be at 6. Rest of the side picks itself.

Weatherald had two great starts, looked terrific, but chopped on both times for 23 and 30. Very bowler friendly pitch.
What form does Green have to take his spot?

Because one of them can't buy a run right now, and the other was the third highest scorer in Australia's last test series.

No way, Lyon as a great record in Perth. Already down Cummins no way we go in with just Starc, Boland and Hazlewood a legit bowlers.

Green has no shield form either

Green was batting at 3 and scored 184 @ 30
Webster made 150 batting in his position @ 25

You can't possibly be using that as a reason to pick one over the other...

Green made more runs in one shield innings, than Webster has in his only two matches, before being given out incorrectly. Not sure why Green batting at 3 is used against him either, if anything it shows he is a better batsmen than Webster. Runs at 6 are going to be far more important than wickets this series, so if Green can at least just chip in for a few overs, which it looks like he can, he surely can't be dropped.

Because Webster is the incumbent, he has performed with the bat and the ball since being picked.

2 games at shield should not be enough to drop Webster who has been elite at shield for a long time and then took his chance at 6.

Green is not someone we can trust with the ball in terms of workload and his batting at test level has not proven to be levels above Webster. To take Websters place he should have to show form worthy of it, he has not done that.

The only reason why Webster is the incumbent is because Green had back surgery. While Webster has played well, I'm not contesting that, it's not like he's been incredible. If he was, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

And Green has shown to be levels above Webster, he has a test match 174*. Webster doesn't. Green is also batting better right now, which in a reasonably close call definitely counts for something.

And finally, why drop the only player in the team under the age of 30. Webster will be incredibly unlucky, and personally I think they should both play, but Green is the better player now, and simply should not be dropped.
