Where is Hanscomb going to go back to in order to get form and confidence....yep the Melbourne Stars

He’s the sort of batsman that just needs ANY runs. He looks like he’s had his confidence all sapped out of him in the last 6 months. Being dropped isn’t the end of the world. Needs to stop going on the back foot every single ball

Then why is he in the side apart from Lehmann wanting him...

If he can’t bowl 20 he shouldn’t be near the side! He’s an extremely ordinary test number 6!

The worst average of a test number 6 to have played 20+ tests...

Yes boys we’ve picked him again to bat 6...just lol

I'll refer to the selectors before a nobody on Bigfooty.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand why Mitch Marsh has been picked in the Australian side. His off-cutters are extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of reverse swing physics most of his deliveries will go harmlessly down the leg side. There’s also Mitch’s nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his batting stance- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Wisden's Cricketing Almanac literature, for instance. The WA fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these joke selections, to realise that he's not just an 'all rounder' - his batting average of 25 at a middling strike rate say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Mitch Marsh truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the humour in Mitch’s existential catchphrase “I'll have a bowl thanks,” which itself is a cryptic reference to Banjo Paterson’s Australian epic Man From The Snowy River. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Mitch Marsh yet again appears on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them. :'(

And yes, by the way, i DO have a Mitch Marsh tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It’s for the ladies’ eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they bowl deliveries within 5km/h (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid

The WACA is a flat deck, I think the selectors are right to start looking to a 5th bowler. Marsh is a solid batsmen, obviously his record does not show that as yet, but lets get behind the team.
Your right they want a 5 day test.A quick deck might roll England in 3 days.

I get the might be a bit of a dill vibe about Faulkner.
Yeah I don't think he is particularly popular in cricketing circles - either from within the playing (gives off that aggressive floggo vibe) or at board level (drink driving misdemeanour)

Why change a winning combination!
To be fair I don't think there is much the selectors can do there... It's just a weak England team coming up against a middle of the road Australian team that performs well at home.

I would've picked Foakes for Malan and moved Bairstow up the order further, and been very tempted by Jake Ball for Woakes... But I can't see it changing much.

From reading the reports of the pitch, this is going to be a very heavy scoring match.

Sunday showers - 22 (more likely in the afternoon/evening)
Monday showers and windy - 21

Might want to have this wrapped up on Sunday afternoon

Ummm

Sunday we should be okay .. generally when the rain comes...it comes late in the afternoon and rains when the sun goes down...hopefully get in at least two full sessions

Monday worries me....

These are the same selectors that lost a test match to Bangladesh correct...oh and the same selectors that picked our worst keeper in decades in Wade right...

Lets not assume these selectors haven't made blunders!

Yes he’s in a 1 match streak without making an 80.

I’d be dropping Malan before Vince.

I agree. I would say Vince has a better technique than Malan and isn't quite as clueless against Nathan Lyon.

That being said, neither are Test-class, though I reckon Vince might do better at #5 or some such. Although on a WACA road he might get away with it, Vince's tendency to waft outside offstump early in his innings will result in many low scores at #3 since he'll often have to face a relatively new ball.

I didn't know the selectors lost to Bangladesh, and again I'll back them in before a turncoat like yourself.

All the while the English continue to leak to the outside the internal discontent - this time Anderson having a crack at his bowling coaches for not alerting him to the fact he should have been bowling "a tad fuller" in the first innings.

I am reminded of when I was 18 still living with my mum, and being angry with her for not suggesting to me to take an umbrella to work when it was raining.

****ing coaches and mothers.

LOL , reminds me of the previous tour when we played it safe and never gambled on any other talent like Tymal Mills.
Curran hit 77* and took a 6 wickets in the build up game but gets ignored . Not willing to gamble when you are facing a 2-0 score?

Root sticks with the plodder Overton..
but to be fair , the squad selection gave us no options with the batting . Blame that on Whittaker who is clueless picking a touring squad.

It hardly ever rains in Perth in summer so it would be pretty unlucky if the test ended up being washed out, although I doubt there will be much play lost to rain if the test lasts that long, it could all be over by Sunday afternoon anyway.

Perth is the only test venue to host more than 30 tests and never lost a full days play to rain.

Bairstow's kind of attractive...
Edit: They're all kind of good looking but they aren't playing amazing cricket.
