Just want to say how much I am absolutely loving The Ashes.
A Test we should've won easily, we didn't because of a great effort by Collingwood - hard, gritty, intense Test Cricket.
Lords - our strike bowler loses his shit, we go to shit, Strauss plays a beauty; our first innings is a disgrace - 5 guys out hooking, pathetic; we then get completely ****ed over by incompetent Umpires; yet a massive effort by Clarke/Rad get people thinking that the impossible might be possible... then an overweight booze hound with a rooted body, whose leaving the game, gets the ball, gets himself fire up, and comes out and destroys us...
The actual Cricket itself has been riveting - then throw in the side shows; Flintoff retiring, KP getting out to dumb shots and letting his ego state that he'll always bat that way, KP injured and on one leg, Bopara under pressure from our guys heavily, Hughes being sucked in to mind games and being targetted by the short stuff, the Pommy bowling lineup - Harmison come in for somebody or stay as is, Hussey struggling to grind out an innings and regain some form, Hilfenhaus trying to establish himself in our side, Hauritz trying to prove he's not a hack, Siddle trying to bowl with control and aggression but having to cover for Johnson as well, and our best bowling coming in and bowling absolute crap - yet he's still 2nd on the wicket taking list, and we're waiting for him to come good.
As dumb as it is, being 1-0, as much as it shits me to tears, has almost made it even better; now it's going to be on, it'll get harder, tougher and more brutal as it progresses.
