the annoyance in having a month a half of crap which no one really cares about any more before they play their next round of shield matches. created a problem they will not fix

That's why I think Klinger. He could captain the side of Clarke got injured and Watto was injured.I wouldn't be surprised if it's Bailey. The selectors obviously like him, and I reckon there's a real need for an older and wiser head in the middle order (and out in the field).

Klinger is a gun but. :/Copying failed English policies won't help us win the Ashes.
BTW, didn't you have Adelaide as your location just a day or two ago?

Klinger is a gun but. :/
Me? Nah, I have been Melbourne all this time. In fact, right now I am bantering for Vic Metro against South Australia in the SFA so definately not Adelaide at this time![]()
Klinger's one of those before and after guys - his career average isn't really relevant, we need to only consider the past few years. Having said that, I wouldn't call him a gun either. He averages 37.25 over 98 FC matches. He's not a gun.
37 isn't the worst, remembering that he has played many FC matches in England. Playing over there wouldn't be unfamiliar for him. And he is leadership materialHe averages 37.25 over 98 FC matches. He's not a gun.
Muddying the waters there, aren't you?Maxwell leapfrogged him from Melbourne to Sydney, as Khawaja is still only standby for Clarke.
Yes, Quiney played but his lack of runs meant that Khawaja is now ahead of him. That's why Khawaja was in the squad for Melbourne and Quiney wasn't. Isn't that pretty clear?Oh and Quiney did at the start of the summer too, says to me the selectors are only including him reluctantly.

You have guys like Quiney who sit on the fringe of the state side for many years and then get picked for the test side based on 1-2 very good seasons, and then you have guys like Klinger who as serviceable for Victoria and then very good for SA for several years. He would be a better bet the Quiney was IMO.37 isn't the worst, remembering that he has played many FC matches in England. Playing over there wouldn't be unfamiliar for him. I know, that was troubling me. But remember this verse from the Barmy Army? Also, you're rhyming 'right' with 'right' in your sig.
How about:
He hits batsmen hard
He gives 'em a fright
That's Mitchell Johnson
His bowling is just right
?

Hey, he's experienced, one of the more consistent batsmen in the Shield, a handy part-time medium pacer, solid against spin and still has a few years left in him.
Good slipper too, would fill some pretty big gaps there. Sadly Cosgrove has never had the good sense to get himself into even the remotest of condition considered acceptable for a modern Test cricketer. Talent is undeniable, achievements at f/c level are notable, but as Milburn would be unlikely to be considered for today's England XI, until Cosgrove takes his fitness seriously he has about as much chance as I do of playing for Australia. Which is a shame.![]()

I know it's already been said but Brad Haddins ticks the boxes and is still a better glove man than Wade .I don't have an answer, but what I do know is that it's not about blooding someone for the future. The future is now and it doesn't matter whether the bloke is 20 or 40, we need the best possible replacement to perform in 2013.
They're as bad as each other, anyone who thinks otherwise hasn't seen Haddin with NSW this year. Haddin as a specialist batsman is the best option but I have no doubt that it won't happen.I know it's already been said but Brad Haddins ticks the boxes and is still a better glove man than Wade .
