Has Goodes' potential to have a huge SC game gone due to playing a permanent forward role?

Doubt it. Chances are he's still going to push through the centre of the ground as well given how much of a waste it'd be for him to sit up there waiting for delivery. It probably just means he's going to kick more goals but miss out on cheap possessions in the back half.

Re: non rookie listed

Fremantle have to promote 2 rookies off their list.

At the moment, Barlow, De Boer and Pearce are the 3 players who it will come down to.

De Boer is a lock due to last years form in the "actual" season.

Pearce played a few games last year without impressing but looks to have bulked up significantly and has played very well in the NAB cup games, but they already have the rebounding defender types.

Barlow has been fantastic in the 2 NAB cup games, picking up 29 and 27 possessions. He is a ball magnet and with Pavlich making a move forward, you would think they would be in need of another midfielder.

I'd say De Boer and Barlow will be upgraded with pearce very unlikely.

2 Questions.

1- Looking at the Nab Cup scores they seem to be lower than usual. Is this because the total points allocated for each game is the same but there are more players on each side?

2- A bloke I know that claims to be a super coach GURU has told me that the Round 1 lock out mayhem this year will be avoided because there will be a partial lock out (during the Carl v Rich game) and you will then be allowed to make free trades after that game ( but cant trade Carl or Rich players in or out) until the next game starts. Is this true? Cant find any info on this anywhere?

Where is the value?

ok i have been toying with with my team going on the bases of setting my team as

Back 4 keepers/2 players to take the next step/3 young guns
Mids 4 keepers/2 players to take the next step/2 young guns
Rucks 2 keepers/Lobbe for cover with Tippett and young gun
Forwards 4 keeper/ 2 players to take the next step/3 young guns

now im asking would it be better having maybe 5 keepers in each backs and forward line, and having 3 keepers with 4 first year players in my midfield?

ATM i have Ablett Goddard Pendels and Cooney as my keepers with Martin Trengove Moles and Shuey as my mids

should i push Goddard to my backs and add say Lewis Jetta to my mids meaning i have $295k to use to upgrading my Backs Forwards and Rucks?

any help would be great

1) The allocation thing is a pretty good theory actually, I didn't think about it. My reasoning: I don't think players care as much in the NAB Cup, that's probably the reason.

Plus, the quarters are shorter. :)

2) I am pretty sure that's true. I'll see if I can find a link to that info.

Re: non rookie listed

Why would they want to play 2 short???

They wouldn't. Just would have 2 less to choose a 22 from (38 instead of 40). Not the end of the world. Rookie listed players would typically be fringe players anyway (although there are exceptions).

There is a financial cost to promoting that some teams might like to avoid.

Points have been reduced to about ~2900 per game. Not sure on the exact number, but it looks like somewhere from 2800-3000 per game. And yes there are more players aswell which makes a difference.

And on your other question, yes you are correct. You will be able to trade non Carlton and Richmond players on the Friday. You should be able to find the rules somewhere once you log in.

where is Tippet?? rucks or forwards??

wonameara - is he gonna line up rd 1 ?

what rookie rwd are gonna line up rd 1?

Dean Bailey was on SEN this morning, said that Wona should be right for their next NAB challenge match, if not definately their last one and barring injury in that game will be ready to go round 1.

Forward Rookies lining up round 1 is difficult to say..
But their could be a couple out of the following..

G.Rohan
A.Moore
Rockliff
Hitchcock (providing he is elevated off the Rookie list)
P.Davis
C.Peterson (looked great the other night)
R.Tarrant
T.Dennis-Lane
N.Fyfe
M.Duncan

Just pick your rookies closer to the start of round 1 and see who gets named..

Re: Where is the value?

im also toying with the idea of having 3 rookies in the starting mids.... doing this then allows me to have my fwds as follows.... riewoldt rok pav brown steviej buddy and rohan... still wondering whether i should stick with this plan or downgrade a stevie j to have a midpricer in my mids rather then 3 rookies starting

Yeah, she'd hard work ATM. PODS, Rockliff, Rohan look like 1st rounds to me.

Re: Where is the value?

I am definitely starting with three rookie mids because a) obviously there is much more value in mid rookies than backs and forwards this year b) I don't want to miss out on a gun rookie.

Martin, Barlow, Banner, Moles and Shuey all look likely to have big 2010s. If I have one more keeper in the midfield and Moles or Shuey explode I will be pissed.

Now I have Goodwin, Enright, Shaw and Hodge in the back and my 7th forward is Ziebell at 320k.

Re: Cash leftover?

Last year I was left with 300k because I though I found a lot of decent mid-priced improvers, and I was going for a league win so that demands a different strategy.

Lucky I had that money lying around because Hentschel and Raines both did their knees again and I used that money in Round 3 to upgrade both of them to breakout keepers who I had not been aware of before the season (Sam Gilbert and Scott McMahon) and instantly make a bundle of cash as their breakevens were small. If I had not had the spare cash, I would have had to use four trades instead of two if I wanted those specific players.

This year I never touch a player with a sniff of a knee problem. I have Malceski but he is well over his knee complaint - his problem last year was fitness and psychological.

At the moment I have 60k left - I am aiming to have around that amount when they announce the Round 1 teams, just in case one of my rookies is not elevated or named, and I need to upgrade Nason to Shephard or Barlow to Morabito or similar.

Disagree with Moles as I don't think he will play as much but this is the strat I am running with this year.
Forwards and backs are doing my head in:mad:
