Apparently so or just any GTA game. Even the little phases that the people on the street say last for about 5 seconds and are on constant repeat.

What I love is the fact that they have around about 10 sentences that the people will say, it is just that they are said by a bunch of different people, as if that is supposed to make it more dynamic or something.

My mate and I had a good little laugh today as I showed off the game. Hold down the block sword button and no matter how many enemies surround you, you'll never get hit. They are very considerate having only one of them ever attack you at a time.

You can then use the counter move very easily 1 by 1 and the last couple of guys normally just run away. You can then just run at practically anything and hold down the appropriate buttons and the game does the rest for you.

I don't think I've ever played a game with as little skill require as this shite.

Has everyone got all the achievments? (xbox360)

Took me ages to find all the flags and templars and also, have a hidden blade fight with a templar is EPIC

I have to agree with the general consensus here. The game looks stunning, and is reletively bugfree, but it's a pretty shallow experience. What's there is fun (the climbing mechanics are awsome, and so is the fighting system (IMO) ), it's just that you do the same shite over and over and over again. Here's hoping the sequel is much improved, because there is the makings of a great game there, it just needs to be fleshed out a bit.

The climbing also falls under the "looks cool, plays boringly" catagory. There is no skill at all. Neither is there in the fighting. Hold down the block button and you are untouchable. Then you can simply wait for the counter move which is very easy to time.

Probably would fall more under the "A baby could play this" catagory, meaning the learning curve is little to none, looking at a game like GTA IV it takes time to get used to the game, with AC it is pretty much pick up and play and you're a master at it, need to make it harder and more precise.

This game was so fun at the start, but after you get to the 3rd city it gets boring doing the same shit.

Graphically AMAZING. Nothing short of breath-taking.

Gameplay is a grind though.

After a couple of assassinations, I had to turn it off. I just couldn't see myself sitting through essentially the same mission over and over.

And the whole flag capture routine is just a chore.

I'm hoping this was just Ubisoft's way of showing off what they can do and next time, they'll add some depth and variety to the game play.

The biggest problem with Ubisoft is they have a record of not adding much to their games, they are a bit like EA, have huge notarity and games have hype up the wazu, but their games just don't perform like they should, the sequels are often the same.

I tend to agree, but I feel they've come through with the goods on occassions.

Ubi have progressed the Ghost Recon series nicely, as well as Splinter Cell and Rainbow 6.

Admittedly, it typically takes the next console as such to see marked improvement (i.e. Ghost Recon from Xbox1 is a massive leap to Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter on Xbox360).

This, IMO, is where Ubi fall down. Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 wasn't a big improvement on GR:AW1, Rainbow 6: Vegas 2 wasn't a big improvement on R6:V1 (if you get what I mean).

I don't think Assassins Creed 2 will be a huge improvement on AC1, but the "next-gen" AC may be something amazing.

What I moreso meant though is that AC is a new looking / feeling game. I'm hoping they can put this model to good use in future release (not all having to be assassin games in ancient times).

Much like the Crytek engine. Crysis was pretty, but gameplay was bland. I'm hoping that the future games utilising this engine will be amazing to look at AND in depth to play.

A little gem called Battlefield: Bad Company, looks like it could be even better than COD4! I know that's a huge ask, but it looks possible after i saw the preview.

On the topic of this thread, i still think AC will be a masterpiece!:thumbsu:

Not the best video i've seen, but couldn't find the one i was thinking of.

Bad Company better than COD 4.... ah hindsight :)

I am actually wondering were they will go with the sequels, if they go the way which I think it is and that is with it being the guy who is having to remember these Altair memories, then the game will seem to go in a very GTA style it would seem anyway.

I hope that maybe they can go a different way to this, and possibly still stick with Altair, although I have not finished AC and don't know how the story goes, I would think that they won't be going with Altair for the sequels.

Nice guess

It looked nice.

Very glad i tried my mates copy before buying. Put it in, and spent the first hour or so mouth agape at how good it looked.

But yeah, when you're doing the same thing over and over, it gets old pretty quick. The bare bones were there, they just didn't have enough meat on them to sustain the interst.

Its not a bad game at all, just needed a bit more variety to be labelled a good game.

I'll warily assess the sequel, most like hire it, before committing.

How'd you find the sequels?

Sorry for the old bump Ant, just thought we could reminice about a game that polarised opinions, then the sequels got super awesome!

lol didn't expect to see this thread pop up.

can't believe i couldn't finish this game cause of a MASSIVE glitch giving me nothing to do after memory block 4 :(

luckily i got pushed to get the sequels by a few people who said it's amazing and way better than the first during a time when i'd gotten rid of moderntrash2 cause i may have missed two of the greatest games this generation in AC:2 and brotherhood.

Interesting bump Glenno.

I thought AC 2 was a good game but suffered from the same problems as HBK mentions here. It was actually one of the easiest games I've ever played and the assassinations didn't needed to be plotted, in fact for some of them I spent a couple of minutes running after the person I was supposed to kill.

I thought they did a pretty good job of fixing this in Brotherhood, particularly with the way you needed to get full synchronisation by, say, not killing anyone other than your target, not losing a block of health, or by not being detected at all

yeh the full sync does make it more challenging.

surprised this game hasn't had much mention in here. Brotherhood is really good

I reckon it's ok. I've enjoyed most of it, but I can't quite see where those saying it's better than RDR are coming from.
They've tried to change it up and it has worked in places, but I just don't enjoy some of the major aspects of gameplay. Fighting is still too easy and those ****ing jumping sessions just give me the shits.

I haven't got to the jumping sessions yet so can't really comment. Agree that fighting is too easy but I guess the aim of the game is to not really get into fights anyway. You're supposed to be a sneaky assassin.

it's not as good as RDR but it's still up there. I guess i'm just a third person sandbox addict. I like all of them.

Agreed. I never tire of those vistas. It's insane the amount of effort that goes into AC.

What sort of ending was that?
Average. Disappointing game I reckon.
