The thing is it didn't need to be big names you just scour the league for assistants who may bring something better to the table than Chad & Bass, how can it be a money thing it's just an insular club who feels there's very little wrong.

Unbelievably connected etc. fukc me lol

Bassett to backline is like 4 years overdue. Hamish Hartlett? Lol. Chadbro? Lol. Lobbe head of development? Mega lol

Hardly inspires hope for any sort of change in fortunes. Our club has become very insular.

Ummm, the article states...

"Under the coaching revamp, Nathan Bassett will coach the club’s backline – a role he held for three seasons from 2016-2018 – while Chad Cornes will take charge of the forward line, assisted by Goldsack."

So basically 4 years ago he was coaching the backlines... not too much success during those years.

Which of James Kelly, Sean Grigg, Matthew Egan, Nigel Lappin, Shane O'Bree, Eddie Betts, Brad Ottens & Josh Jenkins are you particularly jealous of?
Lol it's not the names - it's actually looking at what Geelong did in the previous offseason and being proactive and shaking things up. But yeah let's keep the status quo and while we're at it give Ken another extension... he'll come good eventually 👍

Only josh carr would be given a job at another afl club , this is PEEAAKKK

That's a club that thinks nothing is wrong
Or
Has major issues with money/ is being told to watch the spend.

Either is a massive concern. Both is likely.

To not bring in an outside voice in some capacity not previously connected to the club is .... interesting.

Might be a lot riding on next year for a lot of people.

Hinkley has been given everything he needs to make a GF/win a flag and get that mega $$$ extension.

A very treading water type adjustment and appointments. I hope they have started planning for 2024.

Bassett's metrics for rating a defensive unit are a concern don't expect any bolstering in the trade period.

Jonas & McKenzie he loves so that will continue as will falling to s**t against genuine big KPF's.

Clubs can't simply move on assistants while they are still under contract you will find it's the case at every club. They are sort of forced to wait till the contract is up. My belief is Bassett and Cornes have 1 year left each. Carr however is an excellent addition and should be a huge part of Port's fortunes in the coming seasons whether he stays as an assistant or gets Kens job in 2024
