Analysis Assistant Changes for 2023

I was just as interested in some of the attacking stuff Ive seen at times from Essendon.

His time and his standing while as an assistant at Richmond I figure is a positive .... and he could potentially come pretty cheap as I expect Essendon have to pay the difference in what we would offer V what they were paying him for next year at least. Structure a contract to take that into account and game the system.

I like the bold bit. Say Essendon have to pay him $500k and his job at Port would be $130k as an assistant under the covid rules but in prior times it might be $180k. Offer him a $100k job, make Essendon pay $400k and bank the $30k saved, to pay him market value in his 2nd year.

Snap.... you just have to make it 'good enough' for the AFL to tick off on it.

Note: Im not saying get him because of this, but if we are gretting him, you game the system, its not like Essendons incompetence didnt cost us badly with Monfries and Ryder out for a year when we were in a position to challenge... so **** em.

EDIT With Kingsley getting the GWS gig, I wouldn't be surprised to see Richmond have a nibble at Rutten again.

At the very least, a new forwards coach please who actually knows how to coach forwards. Send Chad back to the SANFL or a development role and shuffle Bassett back to finish his contract.

Rutten is getting paid very well to not coach next year, so he might consider taking the year off and then become available to replace Bassett in 2024.

The one thing that could get me back to the football next year without sacking Hinkley is getting a senior assistant in and publicly announcing a succession plan for 2024. 2023 would still be a waste, but if we get a definite end date on Hinkley's tenure, I'll rock up (albeit probably with my arms firmly folded).

Then he should go now or the club should end it for him. If the club don't believe that they can win the flag in '23 then they are delaying a resurgence to a flag. Of course if they do believe it, then they'll be in for another disappointment.

Aw yeah I don't reckon we'll change too much, Kenny had a good formula we just need a few tweaks around the edges and to ensure we're consistent.

I’ve seen Hardwick mentioned on here a few times and wondering if there is any background to this as to me it seems like absolute pipe dream stuff.

He appears about as Melbourne centric as it gets (complained about playing down the road at Marvel ffs). I could see him doing a Buckley and taking time out of coaching we’ll before jumping to another team, let alone an interstate one.
