And was head of development before and midfield coach also. Never worked out.

Midfield was a strength in 2022 and set us up for prelim next year. Plus Cripps got the brownlow. That got Power promoted to VFL coach role during years when we were smashed by injury (2024-2025) and so he had few AFL caliber players to call on in the VFL.

Only when they stopped trying to play the “Voss” game plan (preparing players to slot into AFL team) in the VFL did the team seem to gel.

I think it’s a loss but perhaps he wants to play a role elsewhere.

Nah, it was already in the works. I got a txt on a couple days ago stating that Power, Ebert and Clarke are all possibly in the departure lounge.

Power a huge loss IMO. One of our best but understandable if he wants to move onto bigger and better things rather than doing a thankless job in the VFL.

I would have thought our midfield coach is also responsible for our substandard f50 deliveries?

Does our club see our long bomb f50 deliveries as an issue?

Bit of both really. Our Key Forwards don't lead into (their own) space and demand the mid hit them up, and our smalls have no idea where to position themselves to enable them. Everyone just conglomerates into one big cluster-****.

I’ve no idea if he was any good.

I did like the way he spoke to the players but also to the media.

Not too much management speak and buzz terms (looking at you Voss) and lots of plain english.

I don’t get why we wouldn’t promote him. Unless we have someone bigger in mind for the assistant roles and HOC.

Being key in the development of the young players isn’t a “thankless job”

Should be irrelevant. Another year like this one is going to cost the club a lot more than the salary of a couple of dud assistants.

Now that ****ing sucks. Luke is the reason why guys like Skull and Carroll were able to slot into the AFL side like they belonged there.

It's the Head of football fault that we weren't getting in good quality VFL level players to the side and therefore had a shit year. He was the guy doing the signing of the VFL squad players. There have been a few that has really come on this year, and that was thanks to Luke.
