So....what's the point in waiting to finally cull the questionable influences from the club, then just bringing them back as coaches?

The saga guilt just keeps on giving

Just make a clean break.

Who said he was a questionable influence ?
He was actually fine with not getting a farewell game. A couple of others where not happy but it was not a big deal as it was made out to be.
Big T has been huge in mentoring Draper.

Hopefully he's a decent coach.

My concern with a lot of these appointments of former Essendon players is that the it seems far too convenient that the best available candidate for all of these roles just happens to be a former Essendon player.

Not really referencing the farewell game saga, more the breaking away from guys undroppable from saga, saga. Also it's been clearly intimated there was a big chasm between the young and old on our list, and between saga guys and non saga.

Guess the feeling was we had to wait out the saga guys retirements then move on.

Not if they become coaches

Same. Would have preferred someone like Dean Cox or Aaron Sandilands.

Bellchambers doesn’t seem cliquey, if anything sort of the opposite. Admittedly I don’t know the guy but the idea that we even have cliques in the playing group doesn’t meet that standard of proof either.

Nick Bryan was talking about Bellchambers in the preseason video, he goes through a lot of edits with them and explains what is going on and that sort of stuff.

I think he already started to transition into this role last year after they went to hubs, if Jamar stayed in Melbourne and Bellchambers barely played then that would be logical.

It’s not like it’s a senior management position, and he’s definitely qualified.

For all the talk of change at Essendon, it's still jobs for the boys.

He could tap, probably on account of those supple wrists. That's the extent of it. His timing was never great, and he was invisible in free play. Wasting money in the cap employing a bloke to teach a guy to flick it to space.

As a specialist coach you really mostly want him teaching how to position and direct taps at stoppages. That’s one area Bellchambers was pretty good at.

Most clubs have a part-time ruck coach, as it’s a very very niche role, and is often an ex-player. Not the worst appointment given it appears Draper and Bryan both spoke about how beneficial they’ve found their time working with him.

Well I am telling you there was no drama with Big T and he has already done a lot of work with Draper. There is no issues at all with having him as a coach.

Directing taps isn't something you coach. You either have the vision and can do it or you can't. I'm far from convinced on Tbell's positioning at stoppages. A good initial contest was all we could ever hope for, he never really protected the drop zone, followed up or created room for the mids.
Is Tbell actually an assistant coach with game day responsibilities or just a development coach?
Its a sympathy pension plan. Apparently his responsibility is to tell Draper to palm it to our blokes and not hit it to theirs. All because he cracked a wobbly over not being gifted another game. Encourages the senior lot to keep being a bunch of sooks.

Would prefer Andrew Phillips
