******* this time 2.
On issue is which of he and Dasher coaches out of position?

Dasher could coach the ressies and be Sando's link man

Seriously though the concentrated awesomeness of an assistant coaching battery of Harley-Ling-Tredrea would probably cause planets to realign

Im liking the idea of Treadrea as our forward coach... would reinvigorate things and give a fresh perspective free from the cloistered boys club of the backroom factional AFC.

Anyone interested in somehow luring back Goody from Essendon as a midfield coach? I've never been convinced by Camporeale and again, time away would help Goody and if you recall he lifted Vince to nearly AA contention, could do some good things.

Also, can we please go an pay the Sydney tackling coach triple what he is on.... Badly need someone who knows what they are doing in this area.
My 2 cents worth....

I'd be waiting to see what happens with their 'fitness program' before hiring anybody from the Dons.

Why? we love getting punished for shit that happened at other clubs.

In all seriousness, it would be great to get Goodwin back. I remember when he first went to the Bombers Hird said he "was born to coach" and he was "phenomenal". This confirmed to me that it wasn't just a Neil Craig erection, but he actually was good. Maybe he could Bernie Vince '09 our midfield.

I'm really keen on getting Giansiracusa in some coaching capacity when he retires. He is a great leader and an incredibly intelligent player. I would love to give him a crack as our forward coach.
he's been earmarked as a coach for some time... Would be interested, but I'd shoot higher...

Hire Callinan as tackling coach if he doesn't get a gig next year. He looks like the only guy in the team who knows how to tackle properly.

Rather than all these good players people are naming, I'd rather we went after some current assistant coaches at top clubs by offering them a more senior position, higher salary etc.

If we can afford it of course...

The Campo/Clarke duo means that there is room for a "senior" midfield coach to oversee the whole mids/clearances/rucks area if we move both on.

I don't know who the assistant coaches are but you'd look at Sydney, Fremantle, Hawthorn, Geelong and Collingwood.

Getting a coach who has been given the arse of a bottom 8 team (Campo) or who has never been an assistant coach anywhere before (everyone else except Bailey) is the domain of a dud club. Of course you're probably going to have some assistant coaches who are first-timers but it needs to be a balance.

I also rarely understand the mindset that you look at a player who (for example) tackles well and say we should get him in to be our tackling coach. It doesn't make sense. Who have they taught to tackle?

Sportspeople are notoriously poor at communicating and even understanding how they do what they do. Things that are intrinsic to them and feels natural they are often unaware of anyway. Darren Jarman as a skills coach is the classic.

Don't get Jarrad Rooke to be your tackling coach. Get the guy who taught Jarard Rooke how to tackle to be your tackling coach.

Would anyone consider tossing David King an assistant role?

Agreed on all accounts.

Tom Harley would be a great get but it would be incredibly tough to move him from his Sydney home.

He is the AFL GM for NSW, has his Ch 7 gig and his wife is the editor of Women's Fitness magazine.

Still, he is good mates with Sando so it remains a possibility.

Tredrea, Giansiracusa, Tudor, Dew, Adam Simpson, Neeld and anyone that has worked under Ross Lyon interest me.

I wonder if Roy Laird would be possible in a developmental role or an assistant? I have heard the reason he hasn't moved into the AFL is to do with a fear of flying but I recon he would be good for Sando during the week for tactics etc and developing the youngsters. Possible reserves coach?

Like the Tredders idea. PAPs already have Edwards and Rhen.
Any love for the Hound? Or is he too much his own man.
Should be getting Bunji more involved in the club. Development coach or something.
Need to get coaches who were stars in their positions. Also need to get coaches that have tasted success under good coaches. Gia would be good, but the Bulldogs are hardly a powerhouse.
Mods as goal kicking coach as we suck atm.
Need to find a decent coach who can teach tackling as we suck at that as well.

Can't believe it took half a page for one of us to mention Bass.

Should be at the top of our list.

As a Doggies fan I have obviously enjoyed Roys success, but its all been based on a very basic play book, largely on the back of having the strongest midfield in the comp and a never say die attitude. I think in recent times we have struggled against the teams with the new school coaches like Bassett and Francou because they are playing a more complex, AFL like game and we're still trying to play 90's style basic football. Really dont think he's got a great tactical mind to be honest.

No because it's obvious the plus one up the fat side through a runaway type slingshot was a big mistake when four on one with medium intent and outside run was the option the coach would have preferred.
