Although it’s the boy band, all these guys have gone through the process of being assistant coaches, senior coaches at state level. Just coincidence JLo’s available this year..
Josh Carr is also a competence assistant.

Yeah tbh I have boys club vibes from our board but you can't really dispute that Carr and Longmuir aren't deserving of their roles regardless of ties to Freo. We now have an assistant that's coached a SANFL flag and a senior coach that's been apart of successful AFL systems, can't complain.

Problems however might be down the line where if our coaching staff ends up not taking us anywhere, it's much easier to execute a person like Lyon versus one of your former team mates.

I too was dissapointed when he left for Port, but if I remember it correctly it was his missus that wanted
to go back to Adelaide?
Similar to the BHill situation, so can forgive, but that guy Schofield takes the cake for being a dog.

I don't think the reason was the problem, but how he left. From memory he basically said I'm going back to Port in the PSD, if anyone else picks me up I will retire.

As much as I like the salute to Freo identity and the nostalgic tones, this is getting too insular and too boys clubby for my liking. I'm quite concerned. At least the derbies will have a bit more passion to them I guess.

I tend to agree with this. I have watched this transpire in my workplace, the boss keeps hiring his mates, and one of those in “the club” can do no wrong. Are they the “best get”? Not a chance.

Carr, J and Longmuir, J are going to take this club by the scruff of the neck and drag it into something way more important than just sustained success, they are going to make it a proper ******* Fremantle Football Club. A club fitting of Fremantle the home of football in this xenophobic sh it box of a state. Fremantle, the genuine crucible of all that is good and right about Western Australian football. Blokes from the wheatbelt travelling to the smoke and just dominating the fu** out of the joint. Honest, fair and teethgrindingly tough. Winning s**t the reason why you’d care. Derbies being the icing on the cake.

We may be “the little brother” when compared to the Weevils. But Carr J and Longmuir J are second brothers and they understand the truth that everyone with boy children knows: the first one starts the fights but the second one ends them.

Does anyone know what kind of game-style the SANFL club Carr coached played?

They were not too bad.

When they won the 2018 Flag, they were 2nd in attack. 1554 points in 18 games. 86.33 points per game. Norwood was the undisputed number 1 attacking side with 1818 points in 18 regular season games. So thats exactly 101 points per game

His achievements look good. On the surface it’s a good appointment. I just hope we don’t become a boys club, we want to bring the passion back to Freo not the mid 00’s. Any more appointments should come from outside the Freo bubble.

Carr and Longmuir have been away from the clubs some time anyway. Mundy the only player left who was on field with them. They did all their coaching stuff somewhere else. And Carr was only at Freo for 4 years before now...

Josh has a chance for redemption. While he left us with some great memories, he also dogged us big time. It's not the fact that he left because his misso wanted to go home, it's the way he left.
I'm happy with him being back as an assistant though. I reckon he might bring some mongrel out of the players.
