Yeah I was dirty on Tapping leaving. Many of us were calling for him to be promoted to an assistant coach before Brisbane got their mitts on him.

The former Cat had worked as an assistant coach at Port Adelaide and with the Collingwood midfielders successfully in 2018 and 2019. He was Collingwood's VFL coach and helped Brenton Sanderson with the forwards before he was stood down in late March as the virus forced AFL clubs to slash their football departments.

Probably not good mates with Bucks like Harvey & Sanderson are.

Every club seems to turn over their assistant coaches every 2-3 years. Except us. We keep ours for years & years.

Coaches, like players, get stale at the same club. Need new people with new idea's. Look what happened when Longmuir come in.

I was interested to see how Hocking went as our VFL coach; the players have spoken highly of him and being able to listen to quarter time breaks is a rare insight. Outside of 2000 where all assistants cycled through we’ve never shuffled one of our assistant coaches into the role either.

Alongside the redundancy of Gotch this seems to have weakened our VFL side and broader coaching panel.

As someone who was a late appointment Skipworth must have made a reasonable impression in his role of head of development. I assume he’s taken on broader duties.

yep - agree 100% - impact of no Hocking and Longmuir showing up clearly this year

Rivers went from development Coach to VFL Coach.

Skipworth was Ess VFL coach so I think you're right he will wear multiple hats.
