Collingwood will have a new midfield coach for the first time since 2011 as Robert Harvey rounds out his senior coaching resume with a switch to the backline in 2021.

Harvey missed out on the North Melbourne role last month despite another strong showing and will continue to add layers to his coaching with the backline switch.

Collingwood will have long-time Pies assistant Brenton Sanderson moving from attack to coach a midfield

Harvey will be the defensive coach, Brenton Sanderson will take over the midfield and former Former Essendon assistant Hayden Skipworth will coach the forwards after 12 months as the head of Collingwood’s development academy.

Damien Carroll will replace Skipworth as the academy coach after a decade at Hawthorn as an assistant, VFL coach and head of development and learning.

Ok

Bring back Buddha 😭

Honestly, I appreciate most of my posts at the moment are negative, but what is actually going on?

Why are Harvey and Sanderson still at the club.

So deflating.

Champion midfielder has no clue about coaching a midfield line, and has displayed this for over a decade. So naturally he'll thrive as a backline coach!

Not to mention we've got a former HB flanker who has failed as a head coach and a forward coach responsible for our often discombobulated midfield now too! Yay!

At least neither of them are going to be responsible for the forward line. Sooner we **** these two clowns off the better

They forgot to mention that Blair will be taking over as Ruck Coach from Rocca, who will be handing out the red jelly beans as the players come off the ground.

Harvey was in charge of the backline in 2017. The backline was poor in 2017 and we bought in Longmuir. Then the backline is what has held up over the past 3 seasons. Now we are going to inflict Harvey on them again?

Personally, I don't think we're well coached. I have no idea what each coach does or doesn't do, why is Harvey seen as a terrible assistant? Him getting regular head coach inteviews suggest that the football world doesn't see it this way.
Harvey does not seem to be in high demand elsewhere. I recall Caroline Wilson being critical of him some years back when St Kilda rejected him for the senior coaching job. Something along the lines of 'even his own club doesn't want him'. The fact he has applied for so many coaching roles but was rejected by everyone but Collingwood, while our midfield coached by him has seemingly under-performed, has not inspired confidence in him from supporters.

Besides, I think we are all just frustrated seeing the same old faces front up as assistant coaches year after year while the team treads water. The time has come to change the coaching mix, and Harvey seems to provide as likely a place as any to begin the culling.

Caroline Wilson? LMAO get serious.. please never refer to her football knowledge, which is nil

He hasn't been rejected by clubs for the job he has with us. He clearly doesn't impress in an interview as he can't get past the short-listed stage of a Head Coach. I do agree with you on the underperforming midfield, but it seems to me that he must be pretty highly rated by the AFL World, as he does keep getting short listed.

While I would love to see Harvey moved on and I don't really rate him, the Hun article seems to indicate Harvey came a close second in the North role and Giansiracusa was never a realistic chance.

But no one was going to beat Noble, his CV speaks for itself.

The backline coach themselves.

Midfield will be the challenge. Allegedly Treloar was uncoachable so maybe with him gone Sanderson will come in and look like a genius!

Not sure what to make of the forward line. Maybe it’s as much midfield delivery as anything else!!!
Who has made this allegation of Treloar being “uncoachable?”
