Prediction Assistant coaching changes

Campo and Clarke must go, they have both been in the same position for far too long, stifling new/better ideas. They have no ambition for a senior role, just happy to take the money and plod along.

Even when we had Danger, Thommo at his best, Sloane and a dominant Sauce we would somehow still lose the midfield battles.

Desperate need for new blood in these positions.

Look how long Sloane took to come to terms (still hasn't to a degree) with a tag.

It's probably not going to matter, we're not a club that embraces fresh ideas. You can guarantee both Thommo and VB won't be leaving the club to learn anything new. Our club believes that we already have all the knowledge that we need.

Have to disagree about not being a club that embraces fresh Ideas, Considering our record for Change since Trigg move on and Fagan started.
We restructured our Fitness and medical department to one that was unique in the AFL, but adopted by several sporting clubs overseas, and is currently industry best practice.
We restructured our recruitment and Player management structure,
Our board management now has members overseeing our financial, list management, marketing, basically due to the trigg/tippert stuff up.
We have ventured into additional forms of income in Multi Media and buying an ESport team.
We have changed Coaches one Forced yes but they both brought something new to the club.
One thing our has shown in recent times is loyalty it may not be big today but made prove to be the difference between signing a few player on in the future for less money.
So what if we recruit from within, in some business that is classified as a good move. Remember both VB and Thommo have trained and Played under several coaches all who had different views and ideas Both will be attend coaching courses. And they will be working under Pyke not attempting to be a head coach. Also the Crows have only 3 coaches who played for the Club, JPod, Clarke, VB that is 3 out of the 10 coaches.

the grass is not always greener.

Edit: Sorry you meant current coaches

I am surprised that Thommo or VB did not move into the fitness area,
Also, I am not averse to promoting from inside if they are a good enough. I have seen a lot of top people lost to the system because of the belief the grass is greener type thinking. What I have seen of Thommo at SANFL games is he is a Leader and the younger player listen to him.
A very important trait is he does not lose the younger players, So I feel he is going to be a very good coach in that area, Tactically wise to early to make an honest appraisal. and anyway most tactics are driven from the top down.

I think fresh blood and new ideas is always good providing that player comes from a winning culture. McVeigh if he's available would be ideal.
And this is why I want Thompson to find other clubs. Sure its a successful culture and he certainly has the knowledge. But I want new ideas, not ideas hashed from similar culture.

I hope the choices we make at the end of the year are good ones from good cultures and that Don Pyke has a good say in it

New Ideas, like learning from say, several different coaches. How about learning under the following coaches, Neale Daniher, Neil Craig, Brenton Sanderson, Phil Walsh, Dom Pyke, only mention coaches that he did a preseason with. and did not mention the assistant coaches he worked with.
If he good enough he get the gig, and from what I have seen and heard he has the goods, he deserves the job.
Its funny how the Crows have spent most of the time getting assistant Coaches from outside and yes we do get a few from within but the majority of coaches have come from other clubs. And as soon as we get a player who bleeds for the club we want them to go outside first.
Can you name more than 5 assistant coaches with a strong Crows playing background? and how many can you name that have played more than 200 games for us.

Does it seems odd that the most ex-crows player we have as assistants coaches coincides with us finishing top?

I have already discussed this with you. Bleeding for the club and sucking on the teat can be one and the same.

Does it seem odd that we had similar assistants last year and we didn't finish top

why?

I'm married and believe everyone should be afforded the opportunity to be as miserable as I am!

Last year we finished with 16 win in the Home and away season, and failed in one final.
Personally, I like the Sydney example with John Longmire, Brett Kirk, Ryce Shaw, Henry Playfair, Stephen Taubert, Nick Davis, Stuart Maxfield,
Geelong, Hawks have a couple of ex-players most top AFL teams have some of their ex-player on the coaching panel. the teams at the bottom seem to have fewer ex-players and tend to send them out to gain experience only problem is they don't return.
The Key is to select the right ex-player to be an assistant.

pretty happy with Teague and Pods, Campo maybe gets a reprieve after this year as much as I'd still welcome some new blood, Clarke gets moved on FOR SURE...

I'd be thinking about bolstering the strategy, opposition scouting, and physical development departments.

Why move on Clarke
Sauce had a great year.
Shoulda been aa.
But no
Winning one tap with 10 seconds left is enough to win that award
