The beautiful destruction of the AFL, or its dissolution into a suburban league is something I have forecast and tracked and looked forward to for a few years, but I thought it would happen naturally, by about 2040.
So this has been quite a big shortcut. AFL will crumble, while global sports like rugby, soccer, ice hockey, basketball, gridiron, etc, will maintain their level with their much bigger fanbases.
