Hey guys.

I have suffered from asthma my whole life and am currently 20, tonight it just got really bad at basketball and it's very frustrating because it has restricted me through all sports and physical activity it also affects my life in every way possible.
I have tried exercising to improve it and different medications doctors have given me which have not worked.

Was just wondering what others with asthma have done to improve or manage it? Certain exercise programs or inhalers they may use?

any help at all would be appreciated :thumbsu:

I to am a long time sufferer more-so when exercising and changes in season. I have recently been doing a bit of bikram yoga to supplement my weight training and have found improvements in my respiratory system among other things. There is an emphasis on breathing and using your lungs effectively. I highly recommend giving it a go.

Try and attend as many classes as you can in a row, you will adjust quickly.

Thanks for the response.

It sounds good, i have heard yoga is good for asthma but never really believed it. Is this a common form of yoga that they have everywhere?

Just take a couple of puffs of Ventolin before you exercise?

If this doesn't work you most likely need to visit your Doc and get a Becotide (?) sort of inhaler that better manages athsma.

You take that before bed every night.

Also work on your breathing technique and ensure you're inhaling the ventolin properly.

I haven't tried that one in particular (becotide), but i have tried other preventer's that haven't really worked either.

Yeah i reckon i have to work on my breathing technique though.

I use Seretide, and I feel it works a lot better than Ventolin. It's also without that funny taste.

sweet, does your asthma affect you much still?
do you use it before exercise? or is it a daily sort of thing?

I'm not too sure why you aren't just going to the doc. It would take 5 minutes.

Yeah but first he needs to be able to tell the doc how this guy on the internet forum said he should use seretide.
