We're not debating whether or not all Christians are guilty.

The question posed was "why don't people like Christians". I gave a number of reasons. You've chosen to ignore some of them and that's fine.

You've also chosen to LIE about how many people in authority for one particular church was found guilty.

A Church-commissioned report in 2004 said more than 4,000 US Roman Catholic priests had faced sexual abuse allegations in the last 50 years, in cases involving more than 10,000 children in the US alone.

FYI disingenuous to call Pell a "person in authority"... he was right on top of the chain buddy!

I thought you were better than this. What sort of shitty strawman argument is this?
The question, Mr Goalpost Shifter, was what Christians have done to become the public enemy in Australia. Therefore Australian statistics are what I was referring to. I'm not exactly a fan of the Catholic Church, but I know full well that the majority of people in authority in that church (which doesn't even represent all Christians) were not guilty or accused of the awful crime of sexual abuse, and that is even more true of their parishoners. I notice that you haven't bothered to address my actual point.

No strawman argument either. I'm simply applying your logic to another field of life in which the same thing can be said.

Pity that the bombings had nothing to do with Islam.
Exactly!! How anyone could think an attack on Christians in churches at Easter by Muslims/ISIS is remotely related to Islam is completely beyond me. Jacinda is right when she contradicted both the Sri Lankans and ISIS when she said at this stage of the investigation its far too early to tell.

So it's your belief that the hundreds of thousands of rapes committed by people in authority in the Catholic Church and covered up by the Church don't have an effect on the perception of Catholics in Australia? Even when one of the most senior people in the Church- a convicted paedophile- was an Australian?

I think you are wrong.

Also this was only one reason I offered as to why people hate Christians. There were others- the ugly SSM campaigning, the stupidity of religious conservative leaders, the bigotry from prominent Christians (hi Gaz)...

There's lots of reasons why Easter Worshippers should be berated. It is the right and honourable thing to do.

The vast majority of immigrants aren't terrorists.
Sure. They may arrive pure and live a blameless existence. But there is always the potential for them or their descendants to fall into fundamentalism. And such things tend to run in families. The greater the numbers, the higher the risk.

What is an acceptable level of terrorism? Or risk of terrorism?

Alright, I've had enough of you. Your only argument technique is to ignore any point you can't answer, and then berate your opponent without addressing the point that you are willing to go back to.

You still hung up about that strawman you pulled out earlier?

I agree that Government failings would erode confidence in the public servants. Not a like-for-like comparison to the world's largest Christian denomination running a global paedophile ring over 50 years though, is it?

I see IS have claimed responsibility for these bombings. Sad that we are still seeing the dire consequences of ours (Australian) and Americans, British etc, decision to illegally invade Iraq and not only killing and maiming millions in the middle east since then but facilitating the birth and growth of IS due to our destabalization of the region.

Instead of holding our leaders accountable of course the reaction of the dimwits is to go 'herp derp BaN MOZLEMs!!! 11' when the reason so many are seeking refuge in the west is because they want a way out of the violence and conflict WE created.

Fyi, the bombings in Sri Lanka are not condoned or encouraged by the Quran which supports religious freedom

I guess the parishioners in Sri Lanka asked for it.

Shitting on Christians has been in vogue for at least a couple decades now and at the same time we have seen a decline in traditional family values and the general decencency of people.
I am not even close to religious, never have been, and will call out the flaws in Christianity as readily as anyone else but I am kind of starting to feel like we could do with a little more of the good that religion can bring out in people.

You and Toump Ass should have a private discussion because the both of you are making everyone else a little more stupid by having to read the dribble the you're posting.

Actually it will. If people of the Muslim faith had never been allowed to immigrate to this country then none of the attacks to date would have happened and we wouldn't be in fear of more attacks happening.
How many attacks in Australia were actually carried out by ISIS again?

Maybe we should surrender, and realise that extreme Islam is so much better than the enlightenment of the west

Anything else?

That's right mate. Fear them. Never leave your house again.

Dunno. Mabye the decades of raping children? Or the tens of millions of dollars (earned through government tax exemptions no less) being spent on trying to cover it up and silence the victims instead of supporting them? Then there are all those nuffies hanging outside abortion clinics abusing women, or prominent easter worshipers like Tony Abbott being unrepentant cock-heads... or maybe it's all the usual vitriol, xenophobia, bigotry and stupidity we're accustomed to seeing from religious conservatives?

(Could also be that we're not living in the stone age anymore and religion simply doesn't have a place in a modern, civilised society)

Could be any number of reasons my friend!
If that's the case then let's judge Muslims by the murdering of innocent infidels, the murdering of gays and lesbians, abhorrent treatment of women and young girls, lack of compassion, etc, etc, etc.

That's how "they" argue Mr Speaker. They have the intellect and debating capacity of children.
