1. Harry Taylor was, according to some commentators anyway, "the weak link" who couldn't take on a quality forward. A third tall in defence at best.
2. Our forward line was seen as being very suspect. Enormous pressure on Moons, SJ and (to a lesser extent) Hawkins.
3. We were wondering when Ottens would be back. What would we do without him? Surely we'd struggle to win when the heat was on against top four teams...
4. No Josh Hunt. Harley probably a little suspect.
5. Ablett was, according to some, "chasing Brownlow votes" because he was "desperate to win it for himself".
6. The whole team was under pressure. Only one premiership from such a run would be almost a failure.
7. St Kilda were probably the best team in the competition.
8. Not a huge amount of depth.
Just a few observations. I'm sure I have missed a few things.
