Simpkin was sitting out the full ground work, and didn't spot him during the stupid tackling drill / get your ass out of trouble drill they seemed to be practicing.

In said silly drill, Higgins made everyone looks stupid. No one got near him, just too much talent.

Wood, Mountford, Hibberd, MacMillan, MacDonald and Garner all look huge. Like not just a little big, but ******* Monstrously deformed big. Garner was sprinting laps to the point of near death. And has a set of of shoulders / Ass on him now that will make him even more of a weapon than he already is.

Durdin looks really good, seemed very relaxed and part of the group, very happy and has wonderful mobility for a guy not much smaller than Goldy. The sooner we just stick the freak at CHB and build our team around him the better.

Didn't see McKay as I was more on the side of the ground where the mids/smaller forwards were.

I think we can put a line through Wright and Jacobs being anywhere near fit for round 1.

Preuss out marking Goldy with aplomb was a sight, I'm sorry, he is awesome and I can't wait to see him crack a few heads when he gets his chance. Easily the most underrated talent on our list. Could be ANYTHING.

Hrovat is the other that is just a solid little campaigner, has a set of thighs on him that Serena would be proud of, but most importantly hits targets and doesn't lose his feet. Good player, possibly being underrated by a few, I reckon he is a dead set certainty for round 1.

Other than that, JMac looks fantastic, his movement through traffic and high skill level should see him take his talents to the wing this year and possibly even further up the ground. Can football can our JMac.

Ground is in diabolical condition, ******* amateur hour to have so much talent running around on a beach. We aren't ******* Darren Weir. We need to sort it out.

That's just mouthwatering

Can the season start already

Hey Arj a serious question.

Is there a noticeably different 'vibe' about training than other years?

If so, is it the new skipper making his presence felt? or is it a matter of having 11 new kids on the block jostling for pecking order status/spots for round 1??..

He was training as a backman?

He may not be Sandilands big, but he's got more mobility, yeah?

Looks to have a cross between Lachie and Drew's skill set, with more mobility (?!) to boot?
1. Nah it was more of a generic position, continuous hands-only out of trouble drill, set deep in the back 50. If the defensive team turned over the attacking team were instructed to shoot at goal from the very first turnover possession. Reserve heavier judgement for full ground stuff, as he showed plenty around the ground last year. More a small defender's drill today.

2. Think Max Gawn big. 2 inches bigger than goldy, broader, but 2 inches smaller than sandi (but yeah, more like mummy aggro and Gawn marking intent). Gem.

3. Souva having Loogie level marking and / or drewie level intent / tackling is still to be seen, but mobility is clearly better than both, at least in the small sample I saw today. If the kid has a BBB brain (seemed sharp and very relaxed in his recent interview), and can clunk em, we've nailed a smokey.

Some observations from watching training today:

One from left field, I reckon Larkey will be a ripper. Skinny as a bean but moves beautifully for a 6'6"er. Early call I know but I'm getting on the train, ready for departure around 2019.
Thanks for the reports guys.

Who moves across the ground better and who's quicker? Larkey or Durdin

I guess you could say there is a different vibe everything was being done with intent and seemingly greater speed. I guess a lot of it was youthful exuberance but they were cracking in and Ziebs was certainly leading the way with voice. MacMillan has always been a great pointer, but he too was quite vocal. He also trained very well and looked good in all the drills.

Thanks for the reports guys.

Durdin I haven't seen sprint, Larkey was not at all awful in the full ground kick about that was going on.

Why? Mumford sets a great example for his mids to follow.

We need more his no nonsense attitude in our team, and if Preuss provides that, it's even better than the other abilities he clearly has.
Agree, campaigner factor is a desirable trait of a big man. Indeed, if Goldy had Mummy's level of campaigner factor, we would probably have won the last two flags.

Loved his interview. Very natural, honest and seems comfortable with who he is.

How did Marley look in the defensive drill?

Larkey's video on NMFC shows some very impressive agility from the big man. I know a few in here had already mentioned this but i was fairly shocked with his acceleration and change of direction. Forget the Souvlaki we should call him dim sim, because he moves like a cat.
Cat might not have too much of a sidestep if it ends up mixed with cabbage and deep fried.:catface::catface:

BBB does not like this... I'm still struggling to see how they play in the forward line together (other than a few minutes per quarter here & there).
Some of BBB's best work is when he gets on his bike and clunks big marks on the wing. Daw will play second ruck and can be thrown around the field a bit too. Reckon it will be ok.
