ATLEY WITH MIDFIELD GROUP

Just got back.

Set up: Fun session to watch. Mids, forwards and defenders all rotated through goal kicking, tackling and their own individual drills regarding movement and running. Following skills was a running session that involved half the list.
Spoke to Ben Brown as he was going in with the rest and he said he was in to do some cycling, weights and then a group that involved the mental side of things including meditation which was interesting to hear.

Notes:
  • Atley was indeed with midfield group as Joel said. Joining him were there Mountford and Hibberd. Durdin and McDonald were with the defenders and Hrovat, McKay and Wagner were with the forwards.
  • Preuss stands out. First for the fact that he's a bloody giant second for what he brings to the track. Moves really well, has a nice kick and his endurance was on show running in about the middle of the group. Felt sorry for Tom Jeffries getting ragdolled by him in the tackling drill.
  • Hibberd was really involved in the midfield group, just knows where to go to get the footy. Was leading the sprints for a good half of the exercise before Hrovat and Wood started to press him. Has a very easy and natural running style.
  • Waite was really vocal in the forward group. Looked unburdened by injury and did everything in the session, great to see.
  • Durdin moves like a mid but is still too light. Looks tiny compared to McKay.
  • Cunners, Jeffries and Daw were running with Boomer in the slow group. Cunners looked very laboured in his running but in better news Ziebell was about middle of the group overall.
  • Didn't see much of the defenders so wasn't sure if Jacobs was out there. Spotted him doing a bit of ruck work with Goldstein, Fordham, Dumont and Clarke at the start. Hardly saw Nielson or EVW. Wright not present. Didn't identify Ahern either. Thommo was mostly doing stretches and a tiny bit of ball work. Garner ran a few laps.
  • Tom Jeffries looked way off it as you might imagine but never dropped his head. Lots of work ahead.
  • Think all first year players were still at AFLPA induction.

Don't doubt Nick Bowen's legitimacy either. Was there all morning and was chatting with Heath for an hour or so. Deep in the scrotum.

For non NM BF ers I'd hazard a guess as that would be interpreted differently
