I have about 50 exams for spesh and methods I found on vcenotes, it's a good website if you want practice exams.

I agree that for maths it's a waste spending too much time making a reference book - I learn so much more doing trial exams. But yeah everybody does learn differently, it's up to the individual I guess.

I am doing haaardly any study. Half way through my mocks right now and I'm doing alright - saying that, I have my two worst coming up: Econs and History.

Still, it's nearly all over.

Anyone else doing like, 20's to 50's Australia? And the Cold War? Some discussions on the topic (via PM or otherwise) would be great.

Probably a dumb question but how do you do 20+ methods exam when there are only 8 on the VCAA website ? (16 if you count the 2 parts of each year individually)
neap/insight/kilbaha/hefferman/MAVs....i think we got about <5 for each paper from each of these companies in a booklet, may be a couple of brands i've forgotten.

going into year 11 next year, and was wondering if there is any way that I can do English 2AB outside of school as well as English Lit 2AB inside school?

Your school should have given you practice exams in either a booklet or a CD. Companies such as NEAP etc make them each year.

Do NEAP and the other companies charge money for these exams ? and how do you obtain them ?

Not sure about been able to do both of them in WA (in Vic you can do both English and Lit) but I did distance ed last year for one of my year 12 subjects so I'm sure you could do something like that if you really wanted to.

Who does history? How'd you find it? General consensus from my exam today (we have two public schools and a private school in the centre I do exams) was that it was a total struggle. I didn't find it too hard, mind.

I thought we all have exams at the same time. Because I mean, don't we all fall under the ATAR bracket?

One semester is Australia, the other can be Chinese Revolution, the Cold War.. and... I'm unsure of the third. I did 1920 to 1950's Australia, as it was the module used by my school.

I don't know how well I did. It's hard to gage. Certain sources were very easy. The kinds of sources where you wish you could write an essay on them... but that leads to my next point: Essay choices were a case of the lesser or two (or should I say, three) evils. A lot of people also found one question extremely hard... Hrm..

Someone should leak the exam papers. Has that ever happened before?

I do Australian History, the exams in a week.

WA exams are set by WACE, I'd imagine that they would be pretty different to the exams in other states. All the states have different cirruclums (I think).

Anyway one year ago I would have been feeling pretty nervous about my Physics exam, now I wonder why the hell did I worry so much!

Didn't think it was that difficult either (doing 20s to 50s Australia and the Russian revolution). Thought the Australia documents were the toughest part, but I did neglect foreign policy/international relations in my revision. the rest was pretty straight forward imo.

Year of wonders / conflict (crucible/secret river)! Pretty keen to get this out of the way...Want an a+

Text - Edgar Allan Poe
Conflict - The Crucible

Seriously, I'm a good writer and confident with what I can deliever, but f**k this exam shit yo. I want it done for good.

Plan your essays before you start writing; and re-read the question... about 10 times.

I ****ed up my chances of a 40 by doing an imaginative piece which went in a completely different direction then what I intended.

Would have barely gotten a pass for that piece.

Still walked out with 36, so not too bad.

Yeah, I too neglected that in my revision. That and everything else.

How'd you in that question regarding Italy and England and Australia? I had no idea. We didn't even touch on anything like that. Certainly odd. The more I think about the whole thing, the more I'm torn as to how I went...

What kind of marks have you been getting all year in Australian history?

Let's be honest, the big one is in two days time. I am pumped.

What text/context are you guys doing?
I know it is somewhat cavalier, but I just and wait and see. Questions can sometimes put you in an awkward position. If you've picked just one or two texts, you can be clutching at straws to try and make a link to the question. And I think for a marker, it will show.

I'm not awfully nervous. I'm quite sound with my writing, and I genuinely enjoy writing essays. Obviously, it is my pet subject. But I dunno, I can sometimes find the proposed viewing sources to be... a little out of touch. I'm not sure. It's sometimes my absolute best area, and I'll get 75-85%, but, sometimes I'll just get 65-odd, which is disappointing.

Also - general questions for anyone. We get our results on the 28th of December, yes? And so do we get a lump mark, say, our ATAR mark. Or can we find out the marks of our respective courses and exams?

Secondly has anyone ever gotten into a course (preferably someone in WA could answer this, but anyone's answer will do) with an ATAR lower than the courses requisite ATAR? So, if I get 67, could I get into a 70 Curtin course? Or, a 78, and an 80 UWA course?

And what about regional scaling. I've been told a 75 can get you into UWA, as long as you are a country student.

On the Waterfront and Whose Reality (Streetcar Named Desire). Both effectively consisting of the exact same actors!

I had a choice between Waterfront and Poe for the Text Response, and dear God, I love Marlon Brando, but that movie is a boring ****.

I'd rather deconstruct Poe. And that's saying something.

It was between Interpreter of Maladies and Waterfront for me, and Waterfront wins hands down. I actually liked On the Waterfront and find it fairly straightforward to deconstruct.

How is everyone at language analysis? Personally I love it and find it really straightforward. Managed to get a 9/10 for my trial exam on it which I'm hoping to replicate on Thursday.
