I've heard that the boys had an aths carnival today, all in good fun after Sailing yesterday.

Anyway, a couple of interesting points...

1. They had a 60m sprint. Davey won by a mile followed by Colin, Neitz (!!!) and Ward. Bell finished around 8th after being runner up in the GF sprint.

2. 4x100m relays, PJ had a big lead going into the final leg but he got owned by Flash, who ran him down easily. No surprises there.

That's all I know.

Most of his training as an FF would be in 20-30-40 m sprints, no surprise really

I bet our new recruit Bucks killed it in some of the sprints, very quick lad. Likened to an aboriginal purely because of his colour and speed.

Neita has always been quick over a short distance.
No surprises with Flash. We all know we have the fastest player over 100m in the comp in him anyway.
PJ doesn't surprise me heaps. I remember watching him against Carlton in the Wizard Cup this year and I was surprised then how quick he is when he gets going.
Plus we know Chooka won the 3k run (Godders was injured) and Jamar won the 2k run for the bigger players.

i doubt beamer did exceptionally well, not that quick off the mark.

and yeh, neitz is fairly quick, not as much as he used to be though.

I don't care how many carnivals they have or who ran fast, just as long as they show a little heart at the end of next year when the finals come. Don't think I can stand another poor finals effort.

Moloneys wouldnt have been out doing shot put he would be pumping the bi's and chest for another big season ahead

Gotta say Davie won easy and would on any day but Bell got a bad start so i wouldnt be judging him on this one, Pickett fell over and Motlop didnt even jump plus a few got away with false starts.

i think it is just a little fun thing they do every year.

It is a fun competition they do every year. I believe they make four teams, generally the same ones every year - Vic metro, Vic country, South Australia and the Allies. It isn't just physical events either, they do other things off the field too which they earn points for. It does incorporate some of their pre-season training, but the fact that it is a competition (mainly for bragging rights) makes it a bit more interesting.
